In the book Haymitch only mentions Asterid gifting him a sprig, and him telling her to carry one as well, but seeing everyone she loves wearing them as lucky charms in the movie is fucking devastating. Burdock told Asterid it would protect her and she proceeded to gift little flowers to everyone she wanted safe, hoping it would keep their lives from being completely, irreparably destroyed by the Games.

Asterid had been asleep for a good few hours, it was a peaceful all be it cold night- it had been an awfully cold winter but Asterids father made sure the girl was warm before going to bed himself and Asterids mother made sure to get the girl some thick, warm pajamas. She woke up in the middle of the night, about 1 am to rocks being thrown at her window.... Who was out there at this time of night?

The rocks hit the window with such force Asterid sat up, her eyes widened as she looked around before, shifting over to the window next to her bed.
The air was cool as she slid the glass open, peeking out to see some faces at the bottom of the roof. She tilted her head slightly. The night was cold, but she was concerned for anyone below her.
❝ Are you okay? It's early in the morning? ❞
She spoke quietly, rubbing her eyes and moving her hair from her face.
