Gavin Newsom signed a bill Monday aiming to address the issue of Black women dying in childbirth at disproportionately high rates compared to their white peers. The legislation, authored by California state Sen. Holly Mitchell (D), will require hospitals and clinics in the state to implement implicit bias training for all health care providers working in perinatal services. My friend has had a crush on a boy younger then her for a couple years now. Technically he's about the same age just a grade lower. She is a friend who will tell you the truth, whether you like it or not, is confident in her opinion and knowlegde, wether it's right or wrong, an completely quite and shy around strangers, as in will not talk it she doesn't have to. The only problem was the boy she liked didn't have many connections with her besides playing basketball was also fairly quiet. So there wasn't many conversations of theirs to dissect about though the few and far between were chatted about offten. Congratulations after basketball and football games were just about it. Low and behold out of the blue on a random off-road decision...She asked him to prom! This comes as a complete surprise to me and a little disbelieving since she is one not to step anywhere out her established comfort zone, but she did. This makes me so proud of her, especially since he said yes, that she would gather up the confidence wether it was planned or not. I just love how this shows what a little burst of confidence can do in a single moment. Is there a moment anyone else has of an unexpected burst of confidence that turned out well...or not? I would love to hear the stories!!

When people are hurt, they tend to lose sight of the people also hurting as much as they are. They tend to be blinded by their own pain that they only see the bad in everything that's happened to them. It's something that I've actually experienced and learned from after years and years of pain. Things are only as bad as you make them, as you see them. It's only natural to hate the ones who hurt you. But if you see past that hatred, past that pain, and see that not everyone of them are evil, not everyone of them are just to spite you; then it would bring about the best in you that you yourself have never seen before. It bring you courage that you never had before. Well, I guess I have to actually do things to take my mind off other things. I can't keep living like this forever. I'm only fooling myself waiting and expecting things would actually be in the direction I want them to go because I only have control over my decisions, and not the decisions of the people I love and the people I care about. They have their own decisions to make, and I have nothing else to do but accept it and respect it. I don't want to expect anymore, but I will definitely be waiting still.
