I am considering going back to school. At my new job my supervisor has talked to me about becoming a histo technician. I would need an associates degree at the least to be able to start down this path.
In my senior year and shortly after I graduated I had a few times that I considered furthering my education but with all the moving we did my grades were all over the place and I wasn’t able to really prepare and then I didn’t qualify for any scholarships. And my family was in a place financially where they had just enough to stay afloat so hadn’t been able to put anything aside for college funds but I also didn’t qualify for tuition aid. I was smart enough at that point to realize putting myself into 10s or potentially 100s of thousands of dollars in school debt wasn’t a good move. So I just figured higher education wasn’t for me.
But the hospital will cover costs of school for this since it’s related to my job. I could get a degree and then become a histo technician and earn more in my position. I’m kinda nervous, but I think this is a great opportunity and I’d be stupid to not take advantage.
