BAD DOG - CHARACTERS
MAGGIE
A tired girl who works as a waitress at a sleazy dive bar. She doesn’t do much outside of work. Her mother left when she was young, so she grew up with a single father who didn’t care much about anything except for his dogs. Shy, worn-out, and takes a lot of shit from a lot of guys. She has a lot of pent up rage from 21 years of dealing with harassment and abuse. She has considerable trauma from her youth—she’s endured a lot for a long time, but at the time of the film taking place, she’s had enough. She wants to take back her life, be the one in control, be the one with power.
10-YEAR-OLD MAGGIE
At her core, 10-year-old Maggie is a lonely little girl. With a neglectful dad, Maggie had to raise and entertain herself. She often brought on negative attention from boys, especially now that she’s really starting to grow up. She wants to remain young and innocent, but is unfortunately quite unaware of what her life has in store for her.
DUKE
A red-blooded Southern American man, born and raised on the farm. His father passed on the dogfighting tradition to him, and he’d hoped to have a son to do the same with. He’s greedy, abusive, and a shitty father. He wants to prove himself as a strong man, a powerful man. His grand champion, Miss Roxy, is his pride and joy.
