(About the whitewashed gifs) this may be useless information but - when I want to make a gif brighter there are 2 options, increasing the brightness & contrast, or decreasing the brightness and upping the contrast. One results in brightening up skin tones, which is fine for white characters (like... who give a shit) but is very whitewashy for poc. So I use one for white people and the other for people of colour. (1/2)
(2/2) and they’re the same amount of effort, because it’s just a case of clicking Brightness & Contrast and either increasing both or increasing one & decreasing the other. There’s zero effort involved in avoiding whitewashing, even when it comes to pale edits. This – /post/174068774279 – is actually a post where I did both, brightened the white characters (bc who give a shit) but made sure Sana’s skin was still dark. If someone protests it on the grounds of “that’s how I do it!!!” they racist
it’s not useless info, thank you! honestly, that kinda sounds like what i do when i play around in ps. and when i really like how the brightened background looks, i usually use the eraser tool on a person’s skin if the brightness/contrast whitewashed it. so, like you said, it’s not that hard, they just gotta stop being racist lmao.
