I purchased a new UJK Worktop table Kit from Axminster tools. It is 45″ wide 30″ deep and 6″ high. A separate slot-in top is used as the work surface. I bought a top that has been precision machine drilled to receive 20mm bench dogs. The top holes align with the holes on the side of the frame allowing the user to align and clamp work pieces around the frame. The frame is designed to fit onto trestles but I am making a permanent frame from timber as it will be only be used as an assembly table in my workshop, I can also rest a piece of sheet timber on the top to protect the surface when i am doing rough work.
The stretcher have been cut to length, width and height and the legs have been marked up ready to have the rebates cut to receive the stretchers. I will be leaving the stretchers with an 18mm projection from the legs so they align with the edges of the top.
