it's wild to me, that aspon have a reputation for swallowing people whole, yet we never see it happen, and you can't even do it in game, yet cone snails, who have a reputation for benevolence, are like the kings of swallowing people alive in the community, because they actually can do it in the game.

i suppose it's anatomically accurate given the scale of things, and the aspon are quick to point out it's just a rumour, but the cone snails being treated like saints despite their anatomy, either means they are nice enough not to use their ability, or they've been snarfing down people left, right and centre, and then blaming it all on the aspon whenever they get caught.

considering the generational beef between the two of them, i'm beginning to be inclined to believe the latter, not that it's impossible for the aspon to do stuff like that, only it's a lot more contrived to enable it, up to the point where any normal race would have reached the same.

that said, there are many old stories of the aspon being man-eaters, so either the lies run deep, or they're trying to change their public image.

judging on behaviour alone, the snails seem a rather rough and tumble if well-meaning sort, while the aspon are very very frequently devious little minxes, often with quite sinister intentions all in the name of fun.

i wonder if they used to be worse, but have now matured into just annoying jesters, or they used to be rather pathetic, and have since come into their own, modelling themselves off the fairy tale villains, that they're often depicted as, as some way to get more respect than they're often due.

who know, maybe both are correct.
