In honor of the wonderful asphaltis, this year’s Red Crackle Week will be dedicated to her in honor of her work for this community. ❤️

I am one of Em/Asphaltis/Sen’s friends in real life.

On January 15th, 2024, She was in a vehicle crash which resulted in her death. She was on her way to a college class when a drunk driver T-boned her car and she slid off an overpass. We were assured that she did not suffer

She was an avid architecture student, and loved writing and creating. She was a wonderful cook and baker, and spent a lot of her time handing out handmade pastries at our local homeless shelter.

She loved sharing her passion for writing with you all, however she hated leaving things unfinished. Therefore, we will not be releasing any of her unfinished works.

From this date on, this account will no longer be posted on. We hope that you will keep her friends and family in your prayers as we deal with this tragic loss. We will include some of the tags she would usually put on her posts in order to spread the word.

We ask that if you do think of her, make some cookies and hand them out to those around you.

Redcrackle week 2024: ASPHALTIS

i’ve been making my way through school and health problems and family problems and I realized that while making posts on this blog, it’s become more of a chore than something i do for fun. i feel obligated to post and obligated to write when i have no motivation to do so, and this is no one’s fault!

i thought about that for a little while, before i realized I just kinda fell out of love with the show. I still love red crackle, carmivy, and julethief, but I just don’t want to write cs right now, and for the near future.

I’m deciding to turn to a new blog and AO3 account and turn them into a multi-fandom writing blog/account, and i do hope you guys will support me in this decision!

that being said, tomorrow (or ig today since it’s 2 am for me) will be my last day on this blog until I log out for the near future/until we get more cs content or i have the weird urge to write them. I won’t be deleting my blog, so my posts will still be here.

i broke my thumb ligament or strained it or something :)

and i am in a full wrist cast and i can’t really move my fingers. typing with my left hand would just take me all day.

SO, in the future, I may upload the red crackle week prompts and we are all going to act like i totally uploaded them on time.

but other than that, i will be taking a break from writing so i don’t strain it.

By now you probably heard that the red crackle writer @/asphaltis has tragically passed away in a car accident on Monday, January 15th.

I didn’t get to talk to Em all the time, we were friends in the CS fandom who met in the comments section of one of her fics. But rereading my past conversations with her on discord I felt those happy memories I had with her come back. She was one of the SWEETEST, most kindest people I have ever met in this fandom and online in general.

We bonded over Red Crackle and how the fandom’s constant ship wars were stupid. She and I would always bounce ideas off of each other when she wasn’t working or in her classes. She would always tell me she was baking cookies or brownies, or whatever she felt like baking. She was such a creative person.

In 2021 she left the CS fandom for good after the show ended a month before, and I haven’t heard from her since. I missed her and her warmth so much, but now I know that I will never be able to ramble to her at 4am again, or rant about the fandom’s toxicity towards Red Crackle again, or brainstorm fanfic ideas with her again….she’s gone. Goddamnit, she’s gone.

Whenever I bake something I’ll always be reminded of her now. I’m thinking of her family and friends, and am mourning with them.
