For those who pass by South Circular Road in Dublin, this oddity will be familiar. I recently got talking to a local and the story in the area is that it was built for a family member with TB who didn’t want to be sent off to a sanitorium. Looking at the house it makes sense - high up, originally with windows on all four sides for plenty of ventilation. Makes me wonder if there are any other TB rooms around...
