"A Sea of Pearls & Leaves" by Rosalyn Briar

I don’t usually like to read the blurbs of books because I like to be surprised, and even then, many times I end up guessing most of the plot lines. But THIS book… This book took me by absolute surprise in the best way possible.

For some reason, maybe because of the cover, I went in thinking that it may be another mermaid book. Some fantasy, some romance, and that’s it. However, I couldn’t be more wrong.

In this book, we follow princess Ingrid, who’s been pushing away her duty of marriage for as long as she could, until her father, the King of Norella Isle, gives her an ultimatum, which leads to several suitors to be invited to the island in hopes of winning Ingrid’s heart. But Ingrid isn’t going down without a fight, and alongside her “friend” Lilura, they set up a competition of what they believe to be nonsensical tasks to drive the suitors away.

Meanwhile, strange deaths have been tainting the sacred space of the island’s priestesses, and Ingrid and Lilura will have to join an unexpected guest in their search for the culprit.

There’s plenty of romance in this book, which also brings some *detailed* scenes, and a decision that not many writers are willing to take.

has anyone considered Asami and Opal brOTP post-series where

They bond (and maybe even gush once and a while) over their goofy, muscley baes that like to have burping contests on all their double dates.

Asami lending an ear to Opal's feelings about her brother betraying her family and how could he do that and Asami shared about her emotional trauma after her father TRIED TO KILL HER and then how she worked through it all and Opal asks how she managed to forgive him and Asami is like "I don't really know... but I'm glad I did." But then also Asami totally supports Opal in whatever decision she makes regarding forgiving Bataar Jr.

Opal being there for Asami during her time of grief with her father and maybe them bashing Kuvira together a lot/sometimes. (I mean, I'd love to see Kuvira get some sort of resolution with the Beifongs/Bataar Jr. but at the dame time I don't think Opal would ever forgive her and I also don't think Asami would either.)

Opal testing out new airbending gizmos and gadgets.

Opal and Asami going out for spa days and shopping trips because they both grew up pretty well off and enjoy pampering themselves every now and again.
