stares bigly. hi i would like to hear the storm kingdom info dump. i apologize for how long this is going to be feel free to copy/paste and break it up under a cut or something if you do reply to it.
some particular bits im curious about:
What is Storm Kingdom's general climate, besides the obvious heavy rainfall. It seems like Summer Kingdom has multiple climates/biomes within it, so I presume Storm Kingdom is similar? are there more temperate areas vs tropical? Are the land areas more marshy/boggy/ghost forests overall or are there more areas of solid land? i know at least some areas are mountainous and we know of folks living in caves - so that's some solid land, but is that the usual/overall or more rare? The amount of rain would make me presume Storm Kingdom is mostly freshwater, especially if they're on the windward side of a mountain range (which i presume puts Summer Kingdom in the rain shadow) so you'd have the glacial(?)/mountain run-off as well. How much of Storm Kingdom is bodies of water? Canyons? etc? I know some folks were also wondering if Storm Kingdom is mostly rain or if it has areas of more snow/blizzard format of storms? Or if it has changing seasons in general. I saw the recent one of Juniper's diary entries mentioning the fluctuation of the storm, so that's at least one variable. Would any of those areas be more regionally-focused? (Like where Juniper is from being mostly fluctuating rain, but other areas in Storm Kingdom maybe getting fluctuating forms of precipitation like more snow/sleet).
Slight aside to that i suppose - so obviously the kingdoms are split seasonally. We know Tegrith has two seasonal areas, which would presume it's located in either Autumn kingdom and Autumn kingdom has a warmer region and colder region, or it's at the border between a warmer kingdom and Winter kingdom. Some folks have wondered if Storm Kingdom *is* Winter Kingdom in a four-seasons system, but I was presuming Terraventus is more of a five or six-seasons system (especially with the note that Storm Kingdom used to be part of Summer Kingdom, or at least parts of Storm), with a Summer/Monsoon (Storm)/Autumn/Winter/Spring, or Prevernal/Vernal/Estival/Serotinal/Autumnal/Hibernal if six seasons. Is that the case of it being more of a five/six-seasons split?
What's the flora/fauna like? Beyond the obvious storm ravens, of course. We know about some birds (i would presume waterfowl and similar are more common?), bugs, and small cave animals (reptiles/amphibians and maybe some fish?). We know large mammals are seemingly uncommon, at least inside the caves/to the degree that they're largely unavailable to residents of the kingdom. Are aquatic or semi-aquatic animals common? Either inside or outside of the caves. I know that one post discussing headcanons you reblogged mentioned fish as a food source may or may not be on the table depending on how corruption can spread through water. I presume frogs as a food source would be similar, especially depending on how sensitive frogs are to ecological changes relates to corruption. I am also personally biased for the potential inclusion of porcupines, since they live in temperate and tropical areas and also have a fun affinity for salt which could be neat for the caves + adding more variety of quills into the resource pool beyond feather quills. Wolves are obviously ridiculously common in Summer Kingdom (and i am absolutely picking up on the ravens/wolves thing. thats VERY fun i am enjoying it greatly), is there a similar predominant animal besides the ravens in Storm or is it just them? Snakes? Alligators/crocodiles? Sharks, dolphins, manatees? Elephants? Beavers? Fantasy creatures? Giant bugs? steeples fingers. what's the food web in Storm. i will be thinking about this. Similarly, what plants are there? We know about the hydroponics, and i presume other plants that might be tended to with more water might be available (rice, cranberries?). Are trees common? What kind of trees or other large plants are there? (Flight Fan Discord had very extensive discussions on what plants they might have access to for farming textiles or paper.) I know fungi and similar were also discussed. Would those be more predominant? Any particular kinds?
What types of fabrics/textiles/similar do they have access to? the Flight Fan discord was discussing that silk would probably be a major one, between silkworms and potentially if they had found a means to utilize spider silk (which would also be fun if silk is among Storm Kingdom exports to Summer). I was also looking at what types of other animal products they might have, like furs/wools/pelts and types of leathers beyond large mammals/large livestock, especially more exotic leathers like reptiles, stingray, etc. (we discussed that storm raven leather is probably out, but if there's any other large birds they could have something akin to ostrich/emu leather.) Maybe small livestock/farmed animals like rabbits/squirrel/etc. Presumably stuff that would be too small or not good quality for most bookbinding. Garment construction would also heavily depend on what types of plant and animal product ratios they have access to. I put way too much thought into this. I really want to know these things for character design purposes.
Similarly on garment construction - Legs mentioned the "Storm Kingdom uniforms" in Thistle Hill including large cloaks. Could have been a lie or the fake uniforms, but Juniper (and it seems some of their sisters?) have a shawl or similar, so is layering common? Are big cloaks common? Is Storm Kingdom commonly cold or is really warm and humid? What are the common colors? (Based on Juniper and their family I was presuming green might be one - which is quite fun for being opposite Summer Kingdom's purple + being the color of particularly strong storms. Also relatively easy to achieve with natural dyes that they might have access to - especially since said dyes are colorshifted more green/brown using iron! which is abundant! it's all coming together...). Are there particular means through which residents handle the rain in their wardrobes? I was looking at traditional means of waterproofing boots while fiddling with Storm Kingdom clothing designs.
Just generally I am thinking A Lot about what kind of accessorizing and detailing Storm Kingdom has on their clothing/etc (glass beads? ceramic beads? metal adornments? gemstones? quills? feathers? scales? squinting at the skin designs for Juniper's family + Juniper's shawl detailing has been the longest i've stared at pixels in my life i fear). Between the definite birds and (biased-)maybe porcupines it'd be an excellent excuse to give Storm kingdom quillwork which i am VERY biased towards. we can always get more Indigenous in our fantasy!!!! (especially since I know some folks were getting Thunderbird vibes from the storm ravens and i am absolutely here for it, especially considering Storm Kingdom/Summer Kingdom dynamics and some Indigenous stories across cultures about the Raven and his association to the sun. I like these vibes a lot.)
What do some of the traditions/culture of Storm Kingdom look like, if you've thought about that much? I was theorizing that because of the lack of access to bookbinding materials, written documentation would be more likely to occur on clay tablets/engravings/paintings and murals/etc similar (possibly reason why Juniper is so buff working in a library job? carrying stone/etc tablets around to transcribe onto paper?) and oral tradition might be more prevalent? Which would make what you've said about how Storm Kingdom operates with telling truth with lies being more through omission or more uncommon be very fun in internal consistency, since that'd be somewhat necessary for that being the predominant history-keeping format. Would also make Juniper's hunger for physical records a fun cultural detail. I am chewing greatly on all of this.
I love the Flight worldbuilding so much!!! Absolutely everyone has been getting so fun and going absolutely ham with it. We *are* enthusiastically taking notes and we adore having community discussions about this. Genuinely Keld, the fairies, the Flock, Mars, Tegrith/Thistle Hill/other little towns on borders, the different kingdoms, everything with the environmental interactions of the dragons and other animals, etc etc is SO so much fun to dig my teeth into. This is my jam and I'm having a great time.
Thank you!!! ^v^ - @redstonebug
THESE ARE INSANELY GOOD QUESTIONS! I’m gonna consult and see what I can say, because I already started typing and explanation and ran into important info I can’t reveal because everything is soooo cause and effect. I WILL COME BACK!
"My home sounds gloomy, but let this record say, it’s not.
From my perspective. It's brighter than the endless gray haze of this "sun" realm.
The Storm rushes on above, not with rage, but with balance. It circles Mount Veritas, the radius expanding and contracting like ocean tides. It is said the ravens swim through it rather than fly. Somewhere above the clouds they break free, hoarding the sun for themselves. Only a small amount of light comes through the gentle eye. It swirls directly above the broken ceiling of the cave. It sounds mythical and unatural, because it is.
It dilates like a pupil, bringing us brighter seasons and times of endless rainfall. The best days are when it's a little bit of both. The rain and mist dribble into the cave, grasping sunlight to cast into our grim world. The air is thick and warm, but the city is glowing.
I miss those days. I miss the rainbows.
I acknowledge my idea of home is probably changed by my longing. There are many things I don't miss; like the smells that lingered, or the difficulty to procure certain goods..."
-Juniper's diary, in regards to "The Crucible"
It's sooo hard not being able to make a video on The Flight till it's over, but I promise I'll try to make it as good as possible.
Juniper as a character has become SO important to me. She is someone who values people above all else but she also struggles to connect to them, she is to me, the ultimate observer, and to see how that manifests into a video with her thoughts written out and narrated is going to make her character feel so fresh even to those who follow the flight as it's airing I think.
Also, I am obsessed with watching the community try to guess her motives over being a spy. I think it's funny because the word has gotten out, but I lot of people don't know **Why** juniper is a spy. Or what exactly her objective is.
I hope this is something I can explore more on stream a little <3
anyways, Im always open to people asking questions about my little tree girl
Hi!! don't know if you'll be able to answer all my questions but ive had like a BUNCH of questions regarding behind the scenes stuff, so if your able to answer them I would greatly appreciate it!!
How did Flight SMP as an idea come to be
How did The Flight Team go about choosing creators to be on the flight
For creators whose characters are apart of a like in lore group like the rebels, were they approached or did they come to the flight team with the idea?
Are all the npcs (- osteon and penrose) played by Mark MrMadspy?? if so is he okay, if not who does?
.How much of the lore that is probably hidden from other creators are you(Snifferish) and Roscumber privy to?
Follow up question, how much if any of the lore that exists was created by You(Snifferish)? I appreciate you taking the time to answer this if you ever do! Love the flight smp its genuinely one of the coolest smps to come out in a while
I would LOVE to answer these , but I'm ngl I don't feel like I should cause not all are mine to answer! I just spoke with Ros, and I think we are gonna do a full prod team QNA during her upcoming subathon! So how about you keep an eye out for that! In the meantime, how about anyone else drops Qs in the askbox and ill save them for the stream.

Hey sniff! I love watching your vids so much. And I know you are playing on the flight. I was just wondering if you have posted any videos of the flight on your YouTube channel?
Hello! I won't be posting Juniper POV of the flight on my youtube channel until it's over. I know that means a great wait, but I also think that it will make it all the more worthwhile.
As most of the community has said now, Juniper is from the Crucible/Raven Republic. Already this information has shaped peoples perspectives, and while it's cool, I don't want it to shape it *too much* yet. My intention with with the video will be to sort of turn the story upside down, start in a completely different spot, with different goals and different information. I want people who have been watching my POV to feel like it's something new. I want to honestly give Juniper's opinion on other characters without it affecting the current story, and I want my arcs to feel complete.
If you want to watch my vods, I def encourage it. I have an unofficial channel
However, Juniper's story will require time, as all things do. I do want to share more of her "confessions" though, which is the device the story is told through.
Hi Sniff! I am a fan of yours and The Flight SMP, and I approach you in good faith. This ask is very long, but it would be truly appreciated if you took the time to read through it.
I recently noticed that you reposted something on twitter that is harmful to the trans community, specifically to trans men and trans masculine people. It was an ‘explanation’ of terminology of which to refer to people within the SMP following your post about the discussion of misogyny within the fandom space.
While I do agree that using the correct terminology is important, not only was this post spreading misinformation of what the terms trans “feminine” and “masculine” were, but also utilizing terms such as TMA and TME to describe them.
These terms basically define which gender identities under the trans umbrella succumb to misogyny, saying that trans men and trans masculine people do not.
This is entirely false.
The trans experience is vast, and this terminology is only keeping in mind a single type of trans men and masc people, which are the ones that have gotten gender affirming care and pass in their day to day lives. And even while those types of people do not face misogyny as frequently as other marginalized gender, they still do, if minimally. And even if they don’t, before their transition and even during their transition, they will have faced misogyny, which undoubtedly impacts them today, whether it is through employment inequalities and economic status, gendered abuse, or other barriers that they could’ve, and likely did, encounter.
Moving on from the view this terminology has of trans men and masc people, there are many that definitely still experience misogyny in a much more direct fashion. This terminology does not have in mind trans men that cannot transition, do not want to transition, those who tried to transition but for whom the testosterone did not do significant changes, the closeted trans men, the feminine trans men and even more. Trans men and transmasculine people of color, too, have unique experiences with gender, resulting in either hyperfeminization or hypermasculinization, both of which will change how misogyny harms them, and create further barriers between them and a safe, queer future.
I understand this could’ve been an oversight on your part considering the first half of the tweet looked promising with long descriptions for each term, but as a public figure, you must be careful about harmful rhetorics as such harming marginalized communities. An apology and the deletion of the repost would be appreciated.
Thank you for your attention, Snifferish.
- Two humble fans of yours
Hello Anon,
First off I want to say how much I appreciate your kind and educational approach to this. Surprisingly I had not encountered those terms before - and definitely assumed they were meant to be approached with nuance, but after reading your explaination, I understand how it might just a be another form of turning transness into only a binary. I'm not sure how new a fan you are - but I myself fall into the category you have described. I am genderfluid, and while I am not a man, I do consider myself under the transmasculine umbrella. I can also say, I have plenty of transmasculine friends who still experience misogyny, especially at a medical level.
I only note this because I want to clarify that I have always been aware how misgonyny still affects transmasculine individuals. It's my fault though for not better engaging with the terms, and potientally looking into the criticisms that other trans people in the community have around them. For that - I am sorry.
I appreciate the check immensely. I'm usually more intentional with my reading and reposting. Unforunately the combination of a stressful work week, and dealing with transphobia directed at both myself and my partner have been weighing heavily on my mind. Ultimately, I hope you guys know I just want a safe space, and a better future, and above all I'm really happy that you felt comfortable to message me about this :')
Sorry if this a silly/stupid question to ask, but i felt you were the best one to ask, as i dont know if Bones Poodwattle has a tumblr/is at all active if so - Does Osteon have a canon height other than just 'tall'? Their player model is sized up to be taller than almost everyone, but i dunno if we ever got told that, and im curious just how tall they are compared to the other flight characters
Osteon is 6'2"/ 6'3" with their shoes probably idk
