Gangrel smirked, āā¦You know what⦠Weāre more alike than you think, Aevusā¦ā He stepped back, āYouāre right of course⦠Their lives donāt count at-ā He stepped forward and drove his forehead directly into Aevusā nose. He felt the blood hit his forehead, hot. He followed up by swaying back and slamming an uppercut into Aevusā jaw. His body was trembling with rage. He slammed another punch into Aevus, not even letting him fall down, first. āYouĀ son of a bitch,āĀ he spat, venomously, āTo think I respected you.Ā FearedĀ you.ā Another punch drove into his gut. āI thought you were a tactician, a genius, a HERO.ā He followed him down and a fist flashed, landing on Aevusā face, āBut youāre no better than I was. You donāt give a DAMN about these people. Theyāre your RESONSIBILITY.ā Another punch, āYouāre nothing but a jumped upā¦ā
Punch.
"-Sociopathic-"
Punch.
"-Egotistical-"
"-Selfish BASTARD!" One last, heavy punch. He took a few heavy breaths and stood up, his knuckles split open. "And if Chrom or Lissa die because of you, I will finish what I started."
"Now get up. And walk. The fuck. Out of my god-damn TENT." He clenched his bloodied fist, sweat running down his face.
Aevus somewhat predicted it was going to come down to this. He could tell in the way Gangrel was shaking, in how vicious his words became.
But the ringing in his head from the hit only grew worse as the attacks rained down on them, again and again and again.
The familiar smell of blood took over his senses, the painful odor of copper and gasoline filling his nose as he heard a sickening crack of his nose echo through his skull.
Even slight resistance was met with futile results as the words he feared hearing the most poured out of the former king's mouth like poison billowing in his ears.
"YouĀ worshipedĀ the wrong fucking guy,"Ā he snarled as the blows stopped, spitting blood as he struggled to lean on his elbows and look Gangrel in the eye.Ā "What, did you think I was a god or something?"
"I'm a tactician. I'm a genius. I'm a hero. Just not to you. Who's going to believe you when I say I could care less what happens to the Shepherds? They're annoying...!! You realize how fucking disgusting it is having to listen to them rant about life at home or what they're going to do after the war? They're all I have and they're my responsibility. But it's a one-way relationship, so why should I give them anything but the bare minimum?"
Aevus licked his lips, finally propping himself up properly and ignoring the scarlet spurting from his mouth.
"I'm fucking egotistical, I can admit to that. You should try it sometimes, instead of wallowing in self-pity all the time."
His legs shook as he tried to get back on his feet, slipping and falling back with a grunt.
"Though trust me when I say I'm not letting the Exalted bloodline die," he sneered as he continued to wipe the blood off his face with his bare arm.Ā "It wouldn't look good for me either. I have my priorities too. Hah, look, we really aren't so different after all, are we?"
