Cam you go into depth about hearing aids and ear buds/headphones -sincerely, a fellow hoh person
Sure! Itās been so long since Iāve been on tumblr that Iāve completely forgotten what Iāve said about it before but Iāll try my best not to repeat too much lol.
So basically, I personally hate earbuds and headphones (when I say headphones Iām talking about the over-the-ear ones btw!) bc they just donāt work well with hearing aids.
Also, keep in mind that this all varies from person to person!! This is only my experience.
With earbuds, you have to take out your hearing aids, which means you can barely hear the sound bc u donāt have ur hearing aids in, so u have to turn it all the way up (and most of the time even thatās not good enough for my amount of hearing loss lol). Also they just donāt really feel right in my ears to me bc Iām so used to the big type of earmold that takes up that whole area lol.
Over-the-ear headphones are annoying too, because while you can still keep in your hearing aids, it causes a lot of feedback and is really uncomfortable. It smushes your ears and hearing aids and can start hurting. Also, headphones are centered around the main part of the ear because thatās where the sound goes in for ppl without hearing aids (obviously lol). However, hearing aids have microphones on top of the part that goes behind your ear, which is just a really inconvenient spot when ur wearing headphones bc they arenāt directing the sound at the microphones unless you adjust it so itās sitting on that part which is also very uncomfortable.
Headphones also cause a lot of feedback - when ur hearing aids arenāt fully in your ear, theyāll make a loud ringing noise (feedback, like when you get a mic too close to the speakers and stuff). Headphones smush the ears and hearing aids in a certain way so that itās rly hard to keep them in the ear fully so they wonāt create feedback, be comfortable, and still be able to hear properly.
Now, Iām sure there are more accessible options out there, but theyāre not too easy to come by and also probably pretty expensive. So all in all, earbuds and headphones are pretty uncomfortable with hearing aids and I suggest Bluetooth :/
I hope this helped!! If I didnāt quite answer what you wanted, feel free to send me more questions! My dms and asks are always open :D <3
