A medium-sized package arrives at the mansion. When opened, it reveals a slightly smaller box, with some drops of blood seeming to stain its corner. Attached to it, a relatively short letter, and a well aware one could easily recognize Teoās handwriting.
Luna, my love, my reason to live. I apologize in advance if I sound a little straightforward, but my lack of time prevents me from sending you a long and nicely written letter like you deserve⦠Either way I hope everything is going fine at home, and that you and the others are in good health.
As for me, Iāll soon be on my way for what I hope will be the last couple days of travel before reaching our good old volcanoes. Iāve been a bit held up though. No big deal, but youāre about to find out why.
If you open the box, hopefully not too much damaged due to its own travel, youāll find Lunastra parts. She was called Ether, in case you knew her. I murdered her yesterday night after she attempted to give me false information about my goal (she tried to make me believe that Gharial had hidden himself on the small western volcanic plateau; thatās kinda foolish if you ask me). Anyway, instead of just letting her rot here until someone finds her corpse to carve some parts or eat the rests, I decided to do the job myself and send you a few bones among other things, that you may or may not make use of. Be careful, I think there is what they call an Elder Dragon Gem hidden in one of the parts but Iām not sure.
Iād love to stay a little longer and write more because it makes me think of you⦠But I have to hurry. If you have anything to send me, I suggest you address it to Gharialās home. Itās there that Iām going in priority, even though I was told it had been damaged by Hunters.
Luna, sweetheart, take care.
Perhaps Iām saying that too often ā but I love you.
From Teo, your devoted fiancƩ.
P.S: if you happen to craft a crown like you subtly suggested the other day⦠Please wait a little before showing it to everyone. Iād love to keep it for our ceremony. ~
She read the letter through twice before actually addressing the contents of the package that had been sent along with it, finding the scent of blood to be an easy thing to ignore.
āOh,ā she says softly, heaving a light sigh. āStill thinking of me while traveling out and about. Then again, it doesnāt surprise me; Teo was always a bit of a romantic, despite how much he doubts himself.ā
Unable to help the small smile growing bit by bit in her expression, she opens the box, unsurprised to find bones and the like.
Carefully, she plucks out something that had been stuck in what she suspected had been a lung before its ownerās death, eyebrows raising at the gem in her fingers. Pretty.
But it gets placed back in the box in favour of her hefting out various sections of the dead Lunastra, inspecting them carefully before separating them into groups based on what she figures she can use them for.
She wants to write back but figures that blood droplets caking up the letter would ruin it, so she takes a few minutes to go wash her hands, perhaps a bit too comfortable with handling the remains of one of her own kind.
Glancing at the crown Teo had left behind, she sighs again before seating herself at a writing desk, pencil in hand.
I might not have been as close with Gharial as you were, but Iāve always thought well of himāI understand completely the urgency you must be feeling right now, and I want you to know Iām fine with you taking your time if that means youāll be as safe as you can manage.
After all, we both know of the rumours that hunters have been steadily advancing into Gharialās territory. You are strong, my love, but hunters have endless vile tactics up their sleeves.
But anywayāI did not know Ether personally, but it sounds as if you did the world a favour by eliminating her, considering Iāve gathered information from various individuals that her leadership tendencies bordered on tyrannical and were based inĀ fear-mongering.
(Or, forgive my language, she was a bitch and nobody will miss her.)
Part of me wishes I had gotten to kill her myself since she dared to try and lie to youāand with you, if I recognize the scent of pheromones right. But I wouldnāt have left her corpse in such good condition, and that wouldāve been a shame, considering her bones are in good shape and just about perfect for carving.
Iāll wrap this up in assuring you that things are fine back home, Lulu has been a great help, his daughter isĀ mischievousĀ but amusing, and I still miss you terribly.
p.s. Of course; If I can manage to make a crown from the parts youāve sent me, youāll be the first besides me to see it, I promise.
