Genuine question, why do some people use “it” pronouns? Isn’t that self objectification? What is the appeal? I see some people use that on here
oh gosh uhh i dont know if im the best person to explain this but i will do my damndest. I can't speak specifically on the behalf of others who use it/its pronouns, but for me the objectification kind of IS the appeal? Growing up neurodivergent and queer is obviously pretty alienating, and unfortunately, it's become a common joke to refer to trans or gnc people as "it." Used in that context, it is insulting. It is objectifying, and it hurts.
That said, growing up, that alienation sort of became part of me. Even now it's stuck in my chest. While it has drawbacks, that idea of being Outside or Other or Nonhuman is also comforting in a way. A reassurance that I am not broken, just different.
Identifying with concepts, ideas, stories, animals, and objects has been something humans have done since the beginning of recorded history. Those are all "it."
I suppose there's something philosophical to be said about an object and its place in the world, its value or usefulness acting as a vessel for connection and communication between people. Referring to something as "it" isn't necessarily a bad thing.
"It" is a word. A vessel. Just as I am, in the grand scheme of things.
And that's also comforting.
To be it. To be part of the larger it. The big it. Maybe I'm not making much sense.
There's a post that comes to mind about this same subject, and I'll link it in the comments if I find it, but to paraphrase, the user writes about "it" being used to refer to things like ideas. Stories. Nature. Works of art. The universe.
TL;DR I can be it because so is the universe and so is love.
Skoodge? In a lil scarf because its cold maybe?

I would kill and die and play god for you. You are so dear to me. Godspeed my friend.
If ur up for a small comic then the "you're cringe!!!" feels like it would fit them lol
