Hi, anon! Yes, I've got one or two headcanons. 😁

Domesticity ends up suiting them. They become one of those gross couples that is so in tune with each other and the space they live in that they can move around each other without even thinking about it. They do this while bickering like the old married couple we all know they are.

Their text log is basically just Ian saying something and Mickey replying with 🖕

They've got a plan of attack for when Ian feels too manic or depressed. For Ian, it's a med adjustment chart. For Mickey, it's a list of dos and don'ts that they know work as he helps to take care of Ian.

They take turns picking date night. Usually that means going out on Ian's nights and staying in on Mickey's.

Ian picks up Mickey's habit of rubbing his eyebrow with his thumb. Mickey thinks it's hilarious.

Ian bit back a smile as his husband watched him warily. "I'm fine. Just having a bad day." It was the first time in a couple years that Ian had felt the low of depression tugging at his mood, though, so his assurance did nothing to ease Mickey's frown.

"You hungry? Had enough water? Maybe you should come move to the couch. We can watch a movie or something. Debs said she could swing by after work, so-"

"Mickey," Ian interrupted, "I'll be okay." Seeing Mickey worrying, trying to take care of Ian as much as he could, made Ian's chest warm. He was the only one who got to see his husband without any part of his gruff exterior in sight. He was the lucky one this incredible man chose to love. "Come here, though?"

😳 an embarrassing headcannon: They get invited out for karaoke one night. Neither have ever been, and both swear up and down that they aren't singing. They are simply there to laugh as their new friends get drunk and do silly things.

Mickey secretly thinks Ian will totally sing a song once he's had enough to drink, but near the end of the night, it's Mickey who ends up in front of the crowd, singing Journey. Ian gets the whole thing on video, and when he shows a very hungover Mickey the next morning, Mickey decides he can't show his face around that group of people ever again.

🤫 a secret headcannon: Mickey has a habit of finishing off Ian's favorite cookies without asking (the packet that Ian buys specifically for himself) and never remembers to add it to their grocery list. So Ian starts to hide a sleeve of them on a high shelf for those nights when he really wants one, but Mickey beat him to it.

One evening, Mickey hollers for Ian from the kitchen. When he comes in, he finds Mickey kneeling on the countertop in front of the open cabinet, grinning and shaking Ian's hidden packet of cookies.

It takes Ian a week to find a new hiding spot.

😘 playful/flirty headcannon: They will sometimes drive the people around them crazy with their flirting. Mickey is good at finding innuendo in anything and will always shoot Ian That Smirk™️ after he's said something a little raunchy and a lot stupid. Ian is more physical, pinching Mickey's ass or thigh, hip checking him, letting his hand wander when he's got his arm around Mickey.

Kat, I think I just asked you about 👀 too. I didn't realize until after I'd sent you yours. 🤣

👨‍❤️‍💋‍👨 random things they like about each other: Ian likes it when Mickey sasses someone. Mostly because Mickey does one of two things; either his eyebrows go up like he's wondering "what the fuck is wrong with you" or his eyes will narrow and he'll bite his lip like he can't believe you've managed to live as long as you have. Ian just really loves sassy Mickey.

Mickey likes when Ian looks at him when they're out. It's usually just quick glances, like Ian is reassuring himself that Mickey is still there, hasn't gotten distracted or wandered off. He likes knowing he's on Ian's mind, that Ian is always aware of him, even if Ian doesn't realize it.

👀 a headcannon from an outsiders POV: Fiona does come visit a few years after they get married. On the outside, she's really happy for her little brother. Mickey is good to him, and their relationship seems stable and pretty healthy.

She's secretly jealous. She's still single. She can't seem to find someone who can handle her level of fucked up. But Ian found his person early and they love each other intensely and completely, and she's a little bitter that her little brother found someone to match his own level of fucked up.

🥳 Favourite tradition this time of year: my family is religious, and every year at midnight on Christmas eve we attend a candle lighting service. We sing silent night and light candles and even though I'm not religious, the whole thing is just lovely.

I've got two answers. The hallmark answer is that me and my childhood friend (played by either Cameron Monaghan or Joe Keery) reconnect when we both come home for the holidays. A series of unlucky events occurs (including all of the tropes. All of them.) And we end with a kiss under the mistletoe.

The non hallmark answer (and what wpuld make my aroace heart happy irl) is that this same friend and I go through the same thing, but instead of all the tropes having a romantic undertone, they only act to strengthen our friendship. By the end, we will have a better understanding and appreciation for how deep and fulfilling even a platonic relationship can be.
