As I Wake by Elizabeth Scott
I honestly don't know what I feel about this book. I liked the characters, but because Ava is basically living a split personality due to some crazy alternate worlds stuff, it was just really hard to follow.
The ending was bittersweet, and I think I would have been more affected by it if I was able to connect to the characters better. Which is weird, because this whole book is about learning about the characters. There's no real description of the world around them, there's a school and a house, and a road, and then there's an attic and an orange chair, and a park, but none of it is really detailed outside of just knowing what a typical school or park looks like. It's all about Ava figuring out the people around her, because she woke up having no idea where she was.
I want to like this book, I really do, it had a great idea behind it, and I enjoyed that it's a different way to play on dystopias, but I really just couldn't get into it. I love what she tried to do, but I just didn't get it.
