Easily one of the taxi rides of all time. I am leaving my friends place, I have two big ikea bags of pillows etc a disabled person might need staying over multiple nights, my friend is loding them to the taxi and then goes to get my wheelchair from her car. (No need to bring the chair to her small apartment since I can walk to her door from the parkinglot.) I tell the driver that she is getting my wheelchair and the driver is like wheelchair? I will not take that in it will stay here. I am like?????? Thinking this is the inva taxi literally made for transporting wheelchair users. I am just like youre not? But I need my wheelchair. He is angrily like were transporting people not your luggage. There is no mention of a wheelchair in your info. I am like ok I am going to call the kulkukeskus (where I order my social security taxi service) and he is like go ahead.
My friend gets back with the chair and I sit into it and call kulkukeskus and explain the situation. Obviously they are like yeah he is wrong call him over and he is like wheelchair? You were talking about a bicycle! (Here I need to explain to you that in finnish wheelchair is pyörätuoli and bicycle is polkupyörä. Makes more sense to mix them up) and I am like????? And he is like pf course you can come in with a wheelchair. He insists I have been talking about a bicycle not a wheelchair, I call bullshit and also he mixed the words again so I am like hey see. You mixed the words again. So yeah he had been thinking that we both have been talking about a bicycle even that the word we both have used till this point was wheelchair. He understand what has been happening and apologizes. At this point I start to obviously cry and he tries to console me by rubbing my shoulders and i have to say twice do not touch me. He is like please do not cry you make me feel bad. Like it's my responsibility to not make him feel bad.
He keeps apologising on the way, tells me he has been working for 10 hours and has had a bad day. He insists he wants to buy me a coffee. I am like I don't drink coffee atleast not this late. He says he is going to buy me cookies instead. And I am like okay. And also like sure the work he does is not valued and it pays like shit and the customers will treat him badly bc there isn't enough time and they don't understand he cant be somewhere I time if that is like 30min drive away if he gets the assignment late and they have been reducing the amount of drivers and bigger cars bc of money so this happens often.
When were closer to home I am like you don't have to buy me anything just take me straight to home. He is like are you sure. I am like yes I am sure. I accept your apology you are forgiven. He seems relieved. I also say I am not going to make a bad review about this he seems even more relieved. Idk if I did the right thing I just like want to think it was just honest missunderstanding after long day of work anyone could have made. But I am exhausted.
