it was customary that when they stayed any where, the two of them shared quarters. he didn’t like to be alone, not when they were in the hands of people that taishakuten didn’t fully trust. diplomacy was his specialty, but he never went to talk to anyone without his precious guard dog. it was always much more relaxing when they were in the room alone together, getting ready to lay down whenever they decided it was time to sleep. already in the robe that he preferred to wear to bed, his regular outfit hanging up on the wall opposite of their bed, he called for asura to come over. making him sit down in from of him, he grabbed the brush off of the side table. carefully, he worked at undoing the braids he’d done for the other that morning, an attempt to keep his long hair from getting tangled. it was difficult, especially when the other wasn’t mindful of some of his actions that could mess his hair up even worse.
taking his long hair in his hands, he started to brush from the bottom, having to work their way up with how long that his hair was. “ it was windy today, hm? “ he mumbled, his own personal way of scolding him for not watching that his hair got tangled. when they weren’t apart, this was their nightly ritual. working his way up his hair, he was gently working all of the knots out for him. their room was already dark, only lit by the sparse amount of candles around their room — the sun had set hours ago, but asura wasn’t the type to sleep early, and he wasn’t the type who slept easily anywhere unfamiliar. “ this place is kind of creepy, don’t you think? “ he commented, not thinking much about the fact that it was out of nowhere. continuing to brush through his hair, brushing until he thought that it was silky enough, only then did he lean in to press his face right into his fiancé’s back. it was the closest to being comfortable that he would be able to manage all night. had they been placed in separate rooms, he would have wandered around until he found asura’s bedroom to sneak into anyways.
