Good that this is my private project. Animator would hate me for having to animate all the tentacles only to learn that the upgraded unit has even more of those.

Ashan - Sacred Spring
I’m easing my way back into real life after a much-needed spring break — and Ashan’s Sacred Spring is helping immeasurably. The work of Oakland-based musician Sean Conrad, it’s an immersive and soothing experience, with pieces “derived from generative music techniques, gathering sounds and letting them mingle in an indeterminate way to create random collisions of melodic fragments, rhythms, and textural accents.” However Conrad does what he does, it works; Sacred Spring is deep and lovely, the aural equivalent of sun-kissed waves lapping gently on the shore, equal parts repetition and ever-shifting shimmers. Breathe it in.
Two new releases are now available from Inner Travels and Ashan on this August new moon :)
Inner Travels - Nature Spirit “Birds, creeks, thunder -- nature sounds have always been important among Steve Targo’s Inner Travels releases. Targo often uses synthesizers to replicate wildlife songs in his music, framed with his own field recordings. On Nature Spirit, the tenth Inner Travels full-length, he pays more attention to the world outside his window and less to the electronics. The sounds of the environment are as much “songs” as the three musical works on the album. They unfold in the style of most Inner Travels music -- no beginning, no end, each layer of texture revealing more and more with each listen. Those layers were engineered into the environmental passages of Nature Spirit. Targo mixed different tracks from his own library of field recordings. The intent behind Nature Spirit is the same as it was for the other Inner Travels albums -- to create music that brings peace to its listeners. In a world that rushes people along, Nature Spirit slows life down so that everything can be appreciated and enjoyed.”
Ashan - Transfigurations “'Transfigurations' is the follow-up to last year’s 'Far Drift Afield'. Another set of unguided excursions to proposed realms of being. The materials are gathered and made porous enough to suggest their joining. They are honed, stretched, and softened to resemble likeness and uniform origin. They are organized and set into motions of intricate repetition, complex beyond the imaginings or cares of the designer. There is an unseen hand strumming and performing with this new instrument. Life is breathed into the notes and frequencies and it feels like song. The designer approves of the expression and calls it music. It is a generic term, but universal enough to propose a mode of interaction.”
