Honestly, in my head? The two of them are basically ghosts living in the past. (lol)

Vox constantly advertises how modern and future-oriented he is, right? And that irony is exactly what I love so much about him.

Vox is very clearly living in the present with the Vees, in an undeniably modern building, acting as if everything that happened with Alastor is completely behind him. But we all know that he never truly forgot Alastor. Not even a little.

Vox—at least in my view—doesn’t see Alastor as someone who’s changed at all. The distinction between “past Alastor” and “present Alastor” is basically meaningless to him. To Vox, Alastor has always been Alastor. Fundamentally the same.

Alastor, on the other hand, knows perfectly well that Vincent and Vox are the same person. But to Alastor, “Vincent” was a symbolic figure—the one person he consciously allowed to cross his boundaries. And (this is purely my headcanon), I think he felt a deep sense of betrayal once Vincent became fully Vox.

Even though Alastor was the one who cut the relationship off himself, and even if all of that “betrayal” exists only inside his own complicated, arrogant inner world— Alastor is absolutely the kind of person who would place all of that blame onto Vox anyway.

He values himself above all else, and he’s far too accustomed to controlling things exactly the way he wants them. He feels like someone who would do anything to avoid experiencing “emotional hurt”— even if that means lying to himself.

Which is why this relationship is just… delicious. Vox never once saw Alastor as anything other than Alastor. But Alastor believed that Vox only ever wanted his power—and felt betrayed because of it.

At their core, deep down, the two of them are actually feeling the same thing toward each other. And yet, neither of them realizes it at all.

Ironically, they feel like aliens to one another. “Why don’t you understand me at all?”—that kind of distance.

Radio Healed the Video Star is basically one of The radiostatic fics that made this ship popular pre-season 1, lots of the older fans im sure know it already. its obviously not even remotely canon now — most of the lore used was speculation from the old instagram profiles — so vox is not the total wreck we know and love lol.

the only one that you will ever know is mostly vees-centric. but as with most things vox, alastor very much haunts the narrative. basically a vees-backstory exploration of their lives. they might be horrible people, but theyre slightly less horrible to each other <3

Twin Skeletons. now THIS is incredible. still uploading so be warned but, god the tension is tangible and horrifying lowkey. you never know whether theyre gonna kiss or stab one another and thats beautiful. each chapter left me on the edge of my seat waiting for more. the only type of torture i condone maybe. also you should definitely read the other fic in the series, disconnected but very much of a similar dynamic(..its a post s2e5 smut oneshot)

It Happened One Night at a Con so i dont normally like modern/human aus —them being demons is the point tbh— but, this one is masterfully written and feels sooo in character. also disney adult vox is just genuinely hilarious

The Weight of Vices, Boredom, and Freedom is gearing up to be applemedia, starting just before vincent offers partnership to al. with a few divergences and different plot points its looking to be very interesting rn. less shippy and more story though.

Silent Static. hold on while i gush about this fic for a sec. have i ever mentioned how much i FUCKING LOVE STATICSILENCE AS A CONCEPT?? NO? WELL I DO. and gonna be honest this was one of the fics that sold me on the concept. vox moves on from his obsession —tries to at least, lol — al very much Does Not Like This. then angst happens lmao. im still hurting from the last current chapter :,) definitely recommend the authors other works if you liked this one.

The Root of Evil. okay so basically the premise is that roo actually has voxs soul so now, hes forced to spy on the hotel for her. which is,, awkward considering he DID try to,, nuke them not so long ago. feat. vox being in an incredible mental space that is definitely totally not self-destructive! he also has a physical ‘GET AWAY FROM THAT GODDAMN DEER’ alarm now

Carrots & Potatoes. right after the finale of season 1 vox lives out his stalker yandere fantasies…… foooor like a day before he feels bad for alastor. then they learn to coexist. what i love most about this is,,,, how human both alastor and vox feel whilst also being unapologetically horrible people. like theyre not some monster hiding in the dark or something. but they are also lwk psychopaths who torture people for fun. so. hard to get the right mix without leaning too much towards either side lmao.

Non-Negotiable Promotion au where, since alastor didnt make a deal with rosie when alive, hes Just A Guy now. and also kind of adorable? hes rosies thrall who gets traded to vox. and the consent is dubious(like hes into it but.. yk, he technically cant say no) but the concept is hot so idc lol. and vox with shark parallels :]

This is a bit unrelated to the original question, but since so many people are stopping by to recommend fics, I thought I’d mention this as well.

I personally strongly prefer versions where Vox is portrayed as the top and is deeply, exclusively entangled with Alastor.

So if you know any fics like that, I’d really appreciate the recommendation and would be happy to add them to my personal reading list!

(And since I truly love Luci/Lilith, I’ll probably be skipping any fic where Lucifer is paired with anyone other than Lilith 😭 You’re still welcome to recommend them if you’d like—I just likely won’t be reading them myself.)

Personally, I do think Alastor could become a caring—or even doting—partner to Vox. That said… I think they’d have to take a very long and winding road to get there.

As long as Vox wants to own Alastor and stand above him, I think Alastor will inevitably keep needling him and taking pleasure in his suffering.

I think that’s because both Alastor and Vox are fundamentally dominant by nature. The key difference between them is that Alastor has complete confidence in himself, whereas Vox’s sense of dominance has its limits without constant attention and validation from others.

So—if Vox were somehow able to be truly honest with Alastor again, and willingly hand over his leash to him— then honestly, I think these two could make an incredibly compatible couple. (And for the reasons I mentioned above, if one of them has to yield, it would inevitably be Vox. Alastor would never give up who he is for someone else.)

Alastor can actually be quite gentle with those who submit to him completely, and he might even let Vox take the lead in bed. Of course, if Vox were hurt or sick, I do think Alastor would genuinely take care of him—and truly worry about him, too. lol

…But, well, we all did witness Vox choosing to self-destruct with a metaphorical nuclear bomb rather than be honest in front of Alastor. 😂

Still, there are plenty of seasons left, so I think there’s definitely room for their relationship to grow into something a little sweeter.

Honestly, there’s infinite potential between Alastor and Vox’s dead, headless body… If Alastor weren’t a cannibal, I probably wouldn’t even be considering this seriously (lol).

He’d love that fact so much he’d practically lose his mind. Alastor being a virgin? To Vox, that’s a blessing. Vox is the kind of guy who once tried to go out in a nuclear explosion just to become someone important to Alastor, after all.

He’d be practically drooling, obsessing over how to give Alastor the most pleasant first experience possible. (Of course, this is the happy branch—an ending that exists only in a beautiful fantasy where the two of them mutually agree to share their first night together. lol)

I think RadioApple is a cute and charming ship, and I completely understand why so many people enjoy it. It’s just not a ship I personally see myself drawing.

That mostly comes down to my own interpretation of Alastor’s character.

Since he is canonically asexual, and based on how I view him, I personally prefer exploring dynamics where Alastor is desired by someone rather than being the one who actively desires others.

That’s purely a matter of personal taste.

As for Lucifer, I really love his portrayal as a devoted father who deeply cherishes his daughter Charlie, as well as someone who profoundly longs for his wife, Lilith.

Because of that, I tend to focus on and enjoy that side of his character when it comes to him.
