just to let you guys know i’m still working on these, have a couple snippets of each

soulwraiths au pt2 (pt1)

• despite inaho calculating a plan perfectly, this wraith fight isn’t going well. even with fair night vision, Slaine trips and is barely saved by his partner, but their timing is now off

• “i’m so sorry, rayet!”

• by the end of the night both wraiths have been just barely destroyed, but at a great cost

• “i thought we said we wouldn’t regret this, that i’d- that you’d be fine!” he buries his face in his hands. there's silence until he hears a contemplative reply, “that’s what i thought too. i could have been wrong though.”

• as it turns out, becoming a soul was less painful than she’d expected. it's her partner’s state that is suddenly far more terrible to bear

haunted au

• “i mean there’s got to be a logical explanation for this, ghosts don’t exist so it might be black mold causing hallucinations, or something of the sort”

• but meanwhile slaine is very real, very dead, and he’s also very angry

• “here, please use paper like a normal person” i’m kind of not a normal person. and you nearly stabbed my eye, you oaf “forgive me, you’re sort of hard to see”

• inaho learns to put up with his unconventional roommate rifling through his things, picking up books to read and often leaving them where they shouldn’t be

so how about I shove a few more starting as friends on earth AU headcanons under your nose? (some of these don’t focus on orangebat though) For instance

• Rayet meeting Asseylum and really resenting her but somehow the princess worms her way into a more respectable view. Predictably she feels annoyed at being unable to hate the wench and still feels asseylum was somehow partially to blame for her father’s death. rayet is torn between her opposing emotions

• Calm is sharper minded than in canon due to his harsher upbringing forcing him to have to be craftier

• calm being very in love with the princess ever since she saved him once, and he’s determined to make her dream come true

• calm escaping from the martians after finding out the truth of the assassination plot and searching for Asseylum on his own, eventually meeting up with orangebat vs Femianne (last battle from earlier headcanon list), and trying to help them fight her

• naturally, he does more getting in the way than helping so they toss him into the ocean to deal with later

• well he tried.

• but seriously, Calm Craftman with an intelligent look on his face as default

• after, they debate on how to deal with Calm. in Inaho’s opinion they should leave him for his own to pick up, but Slaine argues that maybe he is friends with the princess and they’ll never find out if they leave him, but even in the case that he isn’t they can still try to get information out of him

• inaho decides this is sensible so they bring him in. calm is indignant and slightly offended at this treatment but he’s okay as soon as he sees the princess is alive and well

• Asseylum embracing Calm with tears of relief in her eyes because he’s alright and he’s here by her side like he always was, and then she’s excited to let him meet Rayet

• speaking of the redhead, Rayet standing awkwardly nearby the reunion and feeling twinges of irritation and jealousy because nowadays she spends plenty of time around asseylum and now she has to share with someone dear to the princess. she feels like she’ll be easily kicked out of the competition

• in rayet’s corrupted view though, it’s a battle between “i’m used to spending more time with her, i don’t want to share” and “if i’m not alone with her how will i ever get the chance to pay her back for my dad’s death, she should have at least fucking died and it’s bad enough that Edelrittuo is constantly in the way”

• good-natured Calm accepting rayet and doing his best to put her at ease

• Calm trying not to flinch as the handshake becomes an intense death grip from the redhead’s side, and surreptitiously working his hand muscles and grinning afterword because damn, that girl has a strong hand
