@mcnthofdarkness: " you should have killed me " - mebh to cass -mcnthofdarkness
batman prompts. / accepting.
what an odd thing to say. she should have killed her ? but she hadn't. it was a very conscious decision, too, as cassandra was quite good at killing. it was no mistake that mebh continued to draw breath. it was by design. by cassandra's will. what more could she want ?
her hand stilled its motions, no longer caressing the crown of the huntress's head with all the tenderness of a master to its pet. confusion scrunched her nose, formed a knit between her brow. ( WRINKLES, CASSANDRA, MIND YOUR EXPRESSIONS - ) her features relaxed, but the uncertainty lingered. swirling in her gaze like wind about to be swept into a storm. in a sudden burst of noise, cassandra erupted into a swarm, swirling all around the luxury chaise they'd been lounging on. she reformed in an instant, barely half a hare's length between them.
firmly, too firmly perhaps, humans bruise so easily - she pressed her thumb into one of mebh's cheeks, the rest of her fingers against the other. holding her in place. for cassandra to observe, to make an effort to understand. somehow, she leaned closer still.
❝ is that what you want ? to die ? ❞ cassandra tilted her head as the question slipped quietly, almost gently, from her lips, red with a wine-red color she'd stolen from daniela & the blood of her recent indulgence. she forced mebh's head to follow the motion. canting, just to the side. just enough to watch that pretty, pretty wave of auburn follow, to slip from her shoulder, brushing past the pale column of her pretty, pretty throat. pretty, pretty, & HERS.
how could mebh want to die, if cassandra wanted her to live ? ❝ don't be so dim, my little arrow. ❞ she was chiding, almost kind. like mother in her earlier days. her hold shifted, her grip loosening. going tender. thumb lightly brushing along the apple of her cheek. so soft. so pliant. ❝ i haven't killed you because i don't want to. it's as simple as that. ❞ it should be reason enough. cassandra wanted mebh to live, so she lived.
so, so simple.
