"Look at me!" She pleaded, tears forming in her green eyes, forcing the color of them to brighten. Emilie stood in a crowd, a room full of people and yet not a single pair of eyes landed on her. They went through her, around her, never seeing the brown curls that cascaded around her shoulders, brushing across her neck. Not seeing the deep green of her eyes, or the bare skin of her stomach that was exposed by her cut-off shirt. It was like her alabaster skin had turned translucent. Like she was in a horrible dream and she couldn't wake up. "Can't you see me?" She breathed, standing in front of another body. The heat was radiating off of him, and into her, yet he couldn't even see her. He moved, his feet carrying him forward without even an acknowledgement that she was there. Brushing not past her, but through her he was gone. Leaving her more confused and distraught than before. Had he just walked through her? Her hands instinctively slid across her stomach, feeling for body and not just air. Her hands didn't float through her. They ran across the fabric of her shirt, the soft material soothing under her the skin on her fingers. What the fuck was happening to her?
Emilie Swift was a girl known by everyone. A beautiful girl with long brown curls that framed her face in the perfect way and brushed across her collar bone as she walked. The girl with bright green eyes with a hint of blue that were piercing yet haunted by the past she had endured. She had not always been known as the beautiful, kind girl that her fellow college students listed her as. High school was a much different story for the girl with the haunting eyes. Where her past defined her as the girl that was simply broken goods as was only at use to torment, college life gave no thought to torment or poke fun of the past she had lived. There was a girl different to the hauntingly beautiful exterior on the inside of Emilie. Inside there was a tangled web of complicated. Her life was only eighteen years of adventure and yet she had lived through things that girls like her, girls her age should have not even known of. There were many things about the girl that were flawed, mental illnesses that had been caused by the past. But no one saw her as that girl anymore, because Emilie refused to be defined by the things that she'd endured. She would be known for the girl she knew she was truly. College was the time for that.
