@ascetia : 🧠 ― a memory that had a big impact on you.
gargling screams, the rotten stench of bile and ale, of an oni like no other. SHUTEN-DOJI hollers from atop his throne, revered by an army of his kind, those who churn amuck with vitriol for those mortals waging war upon their tribes. a whisper in her ear, the foul odor of liquor laced breath seeding into her mind : “ shinobu, you have one task, do not fail me. should they pass the third brigade, you are to defend our stead in my honor. ”
a flurry of fire, of burning heat collapsing in on their home. the mortals had planned this ambush for decades it seemed. as if the world itself were caving in, steels clashing, men rushing forward through the thicket of smoke and fallen brethren. long spiraling horns flash with selfish greed for blood, a lust unlike any other. a roar of violets, of electro vision cascading electrograss out in a chain that latches onto ankles and drags those past her back.
the spill of ichor, of rich life, the battle of heartache and pain raging behind her abandoned eyes. she’s barely the focus to see beyond her sword’s reach, so seldom stuck in her own glorious battle. she has barely the time until the cold strike of metal cracking bone. everything stops, bunshin disconnect wild and ravenous. body collapses, writhes in pain, neck pinned beneath a samurai heel. in horror, she’s stuck. watching as her king’s head flies off from body into a monstrous rage, possessed. . . angered like a god.
all but dead, yet never more alive. she had failed.
