Deeper and deeper into the forest, deeper and deeper into nature. Delilah loves to be among the trees and the flowers. It is all so pure in a way that the smoke and grime and structure of a city isn’t. She thinks about collecting seeds to take back to her room, starting a garden if she can. Or perhaps she can at least make some sketches to take back and hang up on the walls.
She comes to a halt now and then, kneels to inspect or sketch a plant, and then continues on. At least the Void has not tired her of wandering, she thinks. It is almost breaching twilight, and she thinks about spending the night in the forest.
It’s as she’s slowing to stop again that she hears someone. She slows, looking around carefully. Nothing, or... No, she sees the figure now. Short, clearly young. How curious. Delilah turns to walk towards the figure, eyeing them with faint interest.
“You, there,” she says, raising her voice to let it carry. “Are you lost?” She moves closer, and then comes to a halt, not far from them. “It is getting late, the woods will be more difficult to navigate in the dark.”
