Overview:
Inspired by my love of Avatar (ATLA). After working and having Bojack Horseman in the background (where Princess Caroline goes into the painting having an epiphany) and reading Scripttorture's take on torture used in ATLA I began to think about my own kids show that can challenge me as a storyteller.
Story: Originally a theme park dedicated to bringing fictional worlds from ART to life, a breakthrough in Technology causes people the ability to bring illustrations to life: you can go into the world of an illustration and the contents of the illustration can come outside to reality. (A scientist discovered this and worked with top techs to create prototypes for this new "animated reality": a step above both augmented reality and virtual reality. His disappearance remained a mystery and was never copyrighted/patented- until ArtWorlds buys it and does so.) This theme park expands into a Disney-like power house where people constantly pay to travel in between these imaginary realms. Artist split between churning out art for this company and fighting for the rights of their work and unionizing, as they believe the people and creatures in the worlds they drew are sentient and self aware and deserve protection over exploitation. As for the societies in these illustrated worlds some are slower to coming into terms that they are creations than others. Some are duped by the corporation that is profiting off them, some are resentful, some are building up armies and systems to fight for their autonomy, some want to leave the frames and jump into our reality. ArtWorlds - the Disney-meets-world-museum monopoly that has theme parks set up all over the globe with tens of thousands of contracted and bound artist created worlds for the public to voyage in and rides and games that surround the frames people will enter in that match the theme to the land they are visiting. Appears to be unstoppable. The goliath of all art and entertainment and a top titan in all capitalist and political businesses. Wants to keep the artists obedient and the people created from them in their place.
Logline: 13 year old Aloise Gonzalez in her goal to meet her artist hero at her vacation to ArtWorlds is swept up into a band of misfits to expose the truth of the worlds explored as theme parks, and their fight for freedom and autonomy.
