CORONAVIRUS INFO AND TIPS FROM AN INTERESTING ARTICLE.
I’ve taken the liberty to translate and summarise a few handy pointers from a Spanish article.
- While the common cold presents itself with mucus and a lot of tissues, the Coronavirus is DRY. One of its main characteristics is a VERY DRY COUGH.
- Coronavirus starts with a DRY SORE THROAT, which can last up to 3-4 days. Afterwards, the virus descends to the lungs. That’s when pneumonia can appear, lasting 5 to 6 days. In that phase, there’s difficulty breathing along with a high fever. Once the fever is gone, it means the body has started fighting the virus and getting better.
- Protecting yourself is important. The virus is transmitted through air dropplets. They can stay on metal surfaces for 12 hours, on clothes for about 6 to 12 hours and on your hands for about 10 minutes. The particles wil just die after that. The real danger presents itself when you touch your face. That’s why carrying around a hand sanitizer and washing your hands with soap is VERY IMPORTANT. They say you should do that for at least 20 seconds.
-The virus HATES HEAT. Drink a lot of warm fluids, avoid the cold icy ones. Have some nice hot soup. Take hot showers. Hang your clothes out in the Sun if possible, take sun baths. Even when you present the symptoms of a dry sore throat, drink lots of fluids. The virus may be washed down to the stomach where it will most likely die due to gastric fluids.
- I can’t stress how important it is to DRINK FLUIDS. Take a sip from your drink every 15 minutes. Even if you’ve inhaled the virus particles, you can WASH THEM AWAY.
- You can check the state of your lungs by breathing in every morning, retaining the air for 10 seconds and then exhaling. If you can do that without any choking problems, there’s no danger of the virus being in your lungs.
Please be safe and remember: the largest pandemic is the panic that’s being caused which is understandable but not totally safe. Stay calm and act smart.
