FATA to be given provincial status after military operation

The federal government has decided to give tribal the status of a province. It will be announced after the completion of the on going military operation in tribal areas. In this regard, the federal government has consulted senior lawyers and politicians from FATA.

Article 246 of the Constitution of Pakistan

Articles 246 and 247 make up Chapter 3 of Part XII of the Constitution of Pakistan. Part XII is entitled “Miscellaneous” and Chapter 3 is entitled “Tribal Areas”.
