where eames is an actor hired by a displeased party of a very famous and public couple to ruin the wedding at any cost and arthur is the hyper-competent wedding planner for the couple who will ensure things go 300% perfect and will kill eames with his bare hands if he has to to ensure the happy couple's special day goes well
all of eames's plans to ruin the wedding (bar violence) are foiled because arthur has a nose for trouble and so overprepared for every possible problem its terrifying
eames tries to mix up the flower orders to a garish color that clashes with the venue? arthur has 5 florists on speed dial who will do anything to get into his good graces and the final arrangements are even more beautiful than the couple anticipated (using eames' flowers as accents to his disbelief)
eames arranges for the estranged father of the bride to show up unannounced? arthur had already let the bride know months ago that he might show up and has prepared for a beautiful reunion that makes everyone cry and the whole family reconcile
eames tries to get papparazi to show up at the venue? arthur has leaked the wrong location months ago and has put every one working on the wedding under an NDA and threats to not. speak. a. WORD. about where it's actually taking place (the NDA doesn't scare anyone, it's hollywood. Arthur the Wedding Planner absolutely does.)
eames miserably fails and as a last ditch effort, attempts to seduce arthur. and of course arthur already has a dosier on him and has determined, ok, he's hot and rakish and has already planned their wedding in his head. and he does admit eames getting the doves to release early with his secret lockpicking skills was a surprise but nothing he couldn't fix (he had a very big net to catch the damned birds) and he enjoys the creativity
