Dude ur character sillouette work is so fun!! Did you study professionally anywhere or are these skills you picked up over time?
Either way, ive been wanting to improve my character design / shape language myself, but this semester im stuck in an artistic anatomy class and dont wanna lose my rhythm there lol- got any tips for improving shape language in character work?
Helloooo - I’m going to be honest I’ve been racking my brain around this ask since you sent it. And have a while of trying to figure out how to answer I’ve come to the devastating conclusion that I am ✨ stupid ✨
First of thank you so so so much , and yes I did study at a uni for Animation and illustration ! But ima be real from my personal experience I didn’t actually learn all that much. But I wouldn’t change it for the world.
Most of my ( questionable ) knowledge comes from looking at other artists around me ! Which I highly suggest you do !
From your favourite video games , to comic book artists to even physically things like fashion and architecture! ( the charcater designer around Meg from Hercules actually based her on a Pillar )
But here’s some tips
Detail draws attention - a lot of detail will draw the eye so use it where you think it’ll be most important. For example for my sillouettes I tend to put most of the smaller more detailed shapes in the hair to draw attention to the face.
Shapes have personalities - you probably already know this but shapes can convey different feelings , but you don’t have put a while square in a design to say what yoy want , depending on the style your going for it might not work. But simple sharpening folds or curving out the strands in the hair can also work just as well !
Accessorise ! - accessories can make a silhouette feel more dynamic and can really push the movement of your character!
Experiment don’t be afraid to make mistakes or make a meh design , a lot of people put a lot of focus on having your design be recognisable and unique, which is incredibly is it is - but also as long as you can tell them apart in cast of charcater they’ll actually be around then you succeeded !
I hope this helps even if it was just a much of jargon :) and I hope school goes well I know it came be very boring at that stage lol
He’s ok I guess, I cannot for the life of me draw poses though😭 I also can’t draw guys, but since he’s kinda girly it was easier 🤷♀️ lol. I was all over the place when I was drawing this one, I kept forgetting things and having to go back and fix them. I was also super mad at it (still am) bcs I’m getting my period soon so I’m just extra mad😭🫠🤓
Feedback and tips is appreciated🙂↕️ also why does the quality have to suck when you screenshot🙄
I’m looking for constructive criticism to improve my art, any tips?

I’m making an amanda rig for a play my way remake!!!
It’s my first time making a rig or trying to animate anything OR using alight motion lmao can’t wait to see what goes wrong
Also the actual drawing, I like it but it’s off. Like she’s too stubby? Too tall? Improvement tips? No matter how I do it she won’t stop looking damn BUG EYED
I really really really wanted to make the chorus animation, learned FlipaClip is SHIT, and decided well if I’m gonna use a rig for this animation might as well make the whole damn music video (as well as a music and possibly lyrical cover)
anyway should I start sketching out wooly now or continue doing Amanda’s turnaround
WOOLYYYYY
AMANDAAAAA
I think the first step I've made in the right direction when it comes to improving my coloring and shading and rendering etc. Is telling my self to calm the fuck down and take my time, because I have the tendency to draw as fast as I can lmao.
Now the next step is to get around to sitting down and drawing.
