Artist Statement

My canvas is empty yet scarred with scribbles and scabs of paint. I am an artist with no shame nor guilt: Upon talking about doubt, daunting days, depression

I speak. I speak through incomplete lines, intertwined. I speak with mess and mud.

My work is all experimental without much prior calculation. With an automated script and soul, I drip my words onto the coroded canvas. I like incompleteness, as long as it tells a story. My story. I am incomplete just as my works, forever in progress, never to be finished.

From the mid 90ies on to the late 2000s i saw my role in art being rebellious ( aka doing your own style/ aesthetic/ message/ context) with in the scene, being the progressive, adding fresh a fresh vibe with new technical vibes. Painting organic 3d, painting soft, antennas, taboo forms, making the intimate lies & desires society have visible. Founding my style, oeuvre on popcultural things I expierenced, lived, played with when being a child/ in my teenage years, my forefather heritage, reflecting personal experiences. From circa 2010 i added further goals to my focus, like empowering with my work although non artists artviewers. Giving non painting themselfs people the same ego/ power/ grandiosity/ selfsucciency rush/ feeling like fellow other painting artists. I although played with a broader range of techniques beyond just mixing spraypaint with markers. Learning to accept that it takes much longer painting without spraypaint. Widening my horizon going in all kinds of directions:

I had spent SO much time and brain power on this piece and no one really expected much of my art as I hadn't been happy with my last few pieces.

When they got to mine someone said it was lacking, boring, and timid. That's when my teacher asked them to get closer to the piece.

From afar it appeared to be a sketchy, messy, and colorful silhouette bending over backwards to avoid some red lines/lasers. No background or shading. From up close you would then see that each red line was actually made of words. Insults, slurs, and petty words written in a typewriter-like font.

The person simply said "oh. Nevermind." After getting closer. I got no other feedback or critiques.

The rest of the piece was supposed to be timid and bland. The entire point of the piece was the dodging of hurtful words. The lasers are what was important. They were small so your eyes would be able to see them as solid lines from afar. The piece turned out exactly as I had hoped.

Yet people seemed underwhelmed. They didn't seem to understand why I didn't want the piece to stand out. My message was more important to me than making it eye catching.
