He wasn’t sure who had snapped the picture, but all it took was a simple glance to be pulled back to that moment. To that then. It felt like it had hardly been yesterday but... no. Even by her measure it had been years ago. Close to centuries for him.

The question caught him off guard, and the auri found himself glancing over at the lalafell, unsure of how to actually... respond. Telling the truth was the obvious route to go and likely the response he should have been going with, but no one ever really wanted to hear the truth. No one wanted to actually deal with it.

And he really wasn’t doing... the badly. He was... existing? Surviving. What more could he ask for?

Losing himself in his reading and research was a habit that G’raha had held long before even becoming the Exarch-- and it stayed with him even after he had stepped out of the role and had returned to just being G’raha. His intense focus had always and would always be a part of him, for better... or for worse.

If Fifi had been trying to get his attention, he unfortunately had missed it with his nose buried deep with a tome on Allagan lore. When he didn’t miss was the sensation of weight starting to press against him. As he glanced over, he spotted the lalafell in a losing battle against sleep before finally giving in, using his side and lap as a pillow.

All pain can do is harden your heart and make you afraid of what else will come in the future.” Only fools truly believed in the concept of growth through suffering. True, the potential for growth was always there, but so often it was not in any sort of... positive direction.

The desire to sleep was weighing heavily on his shoulders, and the gentle and seductive siren song of how it was okay for him to close his eyes and let his head rest against the table, really, it was fine, it was okay, just let them rest a moment nothing bad would happen-

His head jerked up, crimson eyes snapping open startlingly wide as he glanced around. “I-- I’m awake.” There was a slight slur to his tone as he blinked blearily, eyes glancing around until he caught sight of a figure that hadn’t been there.
