“There is no evidence!”  Russel’s left hand releases, pulls back, slams down upon the wheel.  “There is coincidence and faulty equipment and your wild fucking imagination.  Connor, we are not having this conversation anymore.  You have a fucking science degree.  You are the last person I should have to explain this to.”

On the other end, Connor huffs, mutters something under his breath.

“What was that?”

“I said—!”  There’s a deep, steadying pause before the voice drops, calms, pops through again.  “I said a big part of science is knowing that you can’t always disprove things that you don’t like or believe in.  There could be a million perfectly logical seeming reasons for why you think a thing could never work but all it takes is that one success to prove that it could.  My degree isn’t about proving that something can’t happen or exist anywhere; it’s about finding the places and the circumstances that allow the most unlikely and unbelievable things to be true.  It’s about believing that anything could be possible and that all we need to do is find the unknown and figure out how it works.”

There is a roiling pool of emotion in those tumbling words, passion and wonder thick to the point of near palpability, and Devlin smiles at it, savors it.

it pains me that I remember that this is because they did it as a duet with a group from a school for the deaf, so the missing lines were there in the show, they were the lines that group was signing.

That’s not what I’m talking about, there’s a line in the song: ‘And the darkness inside you/Can make you feel so small’

In glee for no reason they change it to: ‘And darkness still inside you/Make you feel so small’

stage 1: aw look they’re so cute together what if they had a really nice conversation

stage 2: what if they..... hELD HANDS. WHAT IF THEY KISSED FOR THE FIRST TIME

stage 3: alright so what if one of them got hurt?? what if they had a really emotional conversation AND THEN KISSED

stage 4: WHAT IF THEY GOT MARRIED WHAT IF ALL POSSIBLE DOMESTIC THINGS HAPPENED ~!!!

stage 5: no kissing at all. make them argue. make them fight. make them feel bad about it. make one of them dead. make the other one dead. make them su f f e r. SUFFER WITH T H E M

i do this thing too! it may not be Rational, but it makes sense. (also you're super excellent && not gross!)
