asking for permission from fan sites on twitter to repost their photos can be difficult considering the language divide, so i am here to remedy that!

most fan sites have their DMs enabled, so you can pop right in and send them a message. if they don’t, you can ask them to dm you by leaving the following as a comment under one of their posts: “메세지 주세요. 질문이 있어요.” they may or may not respond, but please give them time to do so. take into account time zones as well.

once you’ve gotten a response as a dm or if they already had their dms open, you can ask them for permission. i always send the following before my message: “저의 한국어 용서해 주세요. 영어는 저의 모국어있어요 그리고 한국어 말지 않아요.” this means “forgive me for my korean. english is my first language and i can’t speak korean.” all the fan sites i’ve spoken to have been understanding of this sort of thing, but it doesn’t hurt to let them know in case there’s any miscommunication. then, the actual message. the following is the korean and english of the same message, and i usually send both.

안녕하세요. 저는 name. 저는 블로그를 가지고 있어요. (블로그 링크입니다: insert blog link here) 혹시 제가 팬사이트남의 사진들을 올려도 될까요? 매번 정확한 출처를 드리겠습니다. 팬사이트님의 사진들을 어떤 방식에서도 2차 가공을 하지 않겠습니다 (사진을 편집해도 괜찮지 않다면). 판사이트님의 사진들이 정말 아름다워요. 제가 그것들을 공유하게 해 주세요! 답장을 기대하고 있겠습니다.
