Hello my beloved mutual ♡🥺 As usual you spoil me with your interest in my silly little brain processes and I love you for it! Sorry it took so long but trying to make order in this chaos proved more difficult than I thought sgds-

Basically, what happens when I get an idea like that is first of all trying to think about something that is both evocative and broad enough to encompass all the characters I want to involve. On my main blog this is usually easier to do, cause the most people I’ve been dealing with has been 7 (the umbrella sibs) for a long time and more recently 10-ish for Shadow and Bone. But these lovely, irreplaceable motherfuckers of ours are FIFTEEN on that particular rollcall, if you only consider the MAIN saga so yeah, you see the problem.

I’ve been seeing those sunlight/snow/fog edits going around but I usually like to put a spin on my own to these kinds of trends, to do my own research so that I do not limit myself into copying the same definitions over and over. What is most fun for me is thinking carefully about which characteristics fit everyone better!

So I thought “Why not! I could take the weather as a starting point and then try to reach out to other branches until I have 15 elements to work with” and this is obvious if you look closely at the things I chose, considering that Kassandra’s definition should have been CLEAR SKY (so again, a weather condition) but I ultimately went for SKY cause I like the font symmetry better. Alexios’ is the only event with no immediate correlation to the weather, since tsunami are usually a consequence of underwater earthquakes but I had to improvise!

Anyway, long story short, I started looking for sites that presented some research about weather symbolism. I went through a few, taking notes of each correlation, then I put everything together and pick and chose 5 adjectives that seemed particularly poignant. I often find synonyms and add my own interpretation depending on the vibes. Then I started to really focus on which element reminded me more of each character. This whole process takes a while because I want to make sure the connection between the word, its meaning and what it evokes and the character is strong in every possible way! I think by images so that really helps me to visualize the gifs before I even make them.

This is the pre-production part, then of course I gotta spend hours finding footage, picking scenes, extracting frames, coloring, finding fonts and all that jazz. That takes a lot of time but having everything figured out beforehand really helps me, I usually make a mock up of the first one and then use it as a guide so everything stays harmonious.

I actually wanted to talk about why I chose what I chose for everyone but this has already gotten impossibly long jesus christodsigsd- I’m sorry I always talk too much and it’s a curse! I really hope some of the energy I put in these combinations manages to get to the viewer if you take a second to think about everyone’s storyline! That’s what I take into consideration when I make this type of thing, not just their personality but their whole destiny!

i am mortally terrified of everything i have heard about DA fandom so i do not know what opinions are popular and what opinions are not popular, and i never intend to find out.

Favorite relationship

i do think i want to pursue his romance in this playthrough, but i also kind of ship him with morrigan! the enemies-to-lovers vibes are impeccable. like you said to me just now, she is REALLY harsh on him for not taking very well the deaths of his father figure and his king and everyone else he knows. but if i didn't selfishly want him for myself i would definitely want to matchmake a little bit lmao. star-crossed lovers, ex-templar and unlicensed mage and all that.

6. what is your least favorite movie/tv show to gif?

gonna have to go with game of thrones here, because holy shit coloring it is always a goddamn nightmare. king's landing? YELLOW. the north? BLUE. everywhere else? WASHED OUT AND UGLY. d&d must answer for their crimes.

that said, daredevil, the punisher, and shadow and bone are right there with got in the "shitty color and lighting" department

8. what gif trend do you hate?

not a stylistic trend, but there's been a huge surge lately of people just wholesale stealing set ideas? like damn, just put an inspo. credit on there! i dealt with one earlier this month, and four others in a server i'm in have had issues in the last couple weeks.

i know it can be hard to trace the genesis of an idea, especially on a site like tumblr, but when the concept/font/caption/tags are all the exact same... bruh.
