A rare break from her duties had arisen, and Alisha had taken it upon herself to join Sorey and the others for a small stretch of their journey. Falling back into the swing of things as the Shepherd’s squire had taken a little adjusting to, but it was nothing she was unaccustomed to by then. Alisha had been working as hard as she could to ensure she could keep up with Sorey and the others, and she’d been doing as much of her part as she could as both a squire and a companion in arms. It was the least she could do when Sorey seemed to carry the very fate of the world on his shoulders.

Their travels had brought them to a wooded area for the night, and while the Seraphim seemed to have busied themselves with various things Alisha took it upon herself to rest by the fire. She gazed into the flames and allowed herself to become lost in thought. Truth be told, Alisha didn’t know how long it would be until she found herself called back to Ladylake. She intended to enjoy her time traveling with Sorey and the others as long as she could, though.

Were it not for the sound of someone approaching, she probably could have just let her mind wander forever. She didn’t, though. Instead, Alisha lifted her gaze from the fire’s warm glow to beside her.

“And why should I care about such trivial matters? What happens to this world is of no consequence to me.” Dhaos finally spoke after a long period of silence. His voice is dull and tired, despite the harshness of his words. Why should he carry the burdens of another world? He has his hands full with his own.

Sharp blue eyes were focused on the red-haired youth before him. He doesn’t even try to hide the fact that he’s watching his sword in particular. It’s almost like he expects to be attacked... hm.

     “ WOAH ... your fists are really packing aren’t they ? Never seen anyone completely obliterate a monster with their bare fists ...” Good thing Alain wasn’t that monster because he wouldn’t have stood a chance against even a single punch. At the very least, that problem was dealt with so there was room to breathe. Though, he couldn’t help but wonder if this guy was one of the Malakhim he’s heard so much about ( given that the other wielded rather powerful artes ) but weren’t most of them under the Abbey’s command though ?

     ❛ Sorry! I got caught by surprise there. ❜ Those monsters were no joke. And Sylvain knew better then to jump into battle without much of a plan. But he really wanted to show off his new weapon. This lance had way more durability and his confidence was beaming. Sadly, he bit off more then he could chew. There was still a lot of training he needed to do to make sure he would catch up with everyone else. ❛ If you don’t mind... ❜

Rokurou was window-shopping at the town’s weapon shop, more like judging the craftsmanship of the weapons and complain about the techniques used to forge the short blades in particular. Seems like he is not finding new weapons in this shop.

“I’m sorry. I’m all right.”

She’d been lagging behind a bit as the group made their way back down Mt. Roneal, both in part due to the avalanche that had taken Legretta and the strain of dealing with the Sephiroth. By then, Tear felt like her body was adjusting to some degree. The medicine was supposed to be suppressing the pain, and for the most part it did its job. The mountain climb in combination with everything else, though, did seem to have taken its toll on her.

A few deep breaths escaped the young Oracle Knight, each visible in the cold snowy air around them. She was trying to be strong for everyone’s sake. The upcoming battle with Van wouldn’t be easy, and she didn’t want them worrying about her. But especially not Luke. Not after all that time.

What. The hell. Was going on?

Eizen hadn’t left Rayfalke for that long, he’d felt like. The intention in doing so had been to look for a potential way to cure his sister that didn’t involve killing her. What he found when he returned was not one, not two, but three individuals who’d made their way up the mountain. What was worse, they appeared to be engaged in combat with Edna. And losing.

One, Eizen was quick to note, was a teenage boy garbed in blue and white. The Shepherd’s garb, he realized quickly enough. It had changed over the thousand years since Artorius had taken the first role, but it was recognizable all the same. What did that boy think he was doing, Eizen wondered. Surely he didn’t think he could take on a dragon by himself. Especially not one who was had been around for roughly two hundred years.

No time for questions, he decided. If he didn’t do something, then that Shepherd and his companions were going to meet an end to their journey before it even started. So, Eizen leaped into action. The song and dance was the same. He’d fought back Edna more than once himself, and he felt like he knew well enough how to handle her. Not that he could completely stop her, but he could distract her. That would have to do for the moment.

“Hey, Shepherd! If you don’t want to die today, I suggest you move!” Eizen called. That was his only warning before he landed just to the side of Sorey and his group and punched in Edna’s direction as she lunged forward. The punch connected, knocking her back a few paces before she shook her head and seemed to recollect herself. The dragon reared her head and unleashed a roar, but Eizen did his best to dig his feet in to keep himself from being blown back. Only then did he start to cast an arte. The arte itself was simple. Just a way to keep her at bay for a moment.

A quick Stone Lance was fired off, and several pointed stones came together to block off Edna’s path for a moment.

Getting left behind likely wasn’t intentional on anybody’s part. Mieu knew how busy everyone was, and while he hadn’t fully understood everything that everyone had been talking about when they’d met Peony he knew something serious had to be happening. There had been a lot of talk about St. Binah and saving people, but Mieu didn’t know the details. He’d mostly just been listening from the item bag.

Which... apparently had gotten dropped in the haste of trying to get back to the inn to check on Guy. Mieu had felt the item bag dropping from Luke’s grasp, but by the time he’d wiggled his way out of it to see what was going on? Everyone was gone. Leaving one little Cheagle all alone in the grand palace of Emperor Peony.

At first, it wasn’t so bad. Mieu had never been in Grand Chokmah before that point, so he hadn’t really known what to expect while he wandered the palace. There were women here and there taking care of various tasks. Kind of like what he’d seen back in Luke’s manor, he realized! Mieu’s ears wiggled a bit at the thought. He’d have to tell Luke about that much when they found each other again! The thought was quick to disappear from his fuzzy little head, though, when he reached what he thought was the way out and found the door shut.

“Mieuuu... how do I get out? I can’t open that door,” Mieu said, ears drooping. He was about to give up hope of getting out when he heard a bit of snuffling around from nearby. When he did, his previously drooped ears perked back up again and he hurried to investigate. There, in the corner to the side of the stairs, was a rappig.

“Hi!” Mieu greeted the rappig. She was a pretty thing wearing a sparkly collar, with a tag that read ‘Nephry.’ She also didn’t seem as interested in him as she was in the toy that she’d found.

“Are you lost, too?” Mieu asked. “Master must’ve been in a really big hurry to check on Guy. But now I can’t get out. How did you get here?” He didn’t expect anyone apart from the maids might have been listening. Of course, he had forgotten whose palace he was in and that the chances of the Emperor still being around were pretty high.

For the moment, though? He was just a Cheagle talking to a rappig. One who finally was giving him an answer in little snuffling rappig noises. His ears twitched.
