(TW: #animal death and #animal abuse in the video)
When I was younger, my parents bought me a plastic horse modeled after one of Abaco's wild horses which was created to raise awareness about their situation. Back then, there were still around thirteen of these horses left; now there's only one.
It's been pretty heartbreaking to remember every couple years that these horses exist, to check back on the website and see that small number slowly dwindle down to this point. I know what it feels like to have lost my own horses; I can't imagine how it must feel for the group of people who have been trying to keep this herd safe, protected, and alive for over twenty years now, just to gradually lose each of them.
I know that this is a really minor issue compared to all of the other problems in the world, and that saving or losing one particular breed of horses won't change anything except for their chance at existing. But they have 24 days left to raise $5,000 and also don't seem to have any marketing campaign to speak of other than the video, which is why I'm making this post here.
I'm not able to donate to the cause myself, but if you can and want to, or just want to help spread the word- here's the link to the donation site.
