Yeah, it’s just really hard to figure out exactly what’s going on with Cor and Gladio’s ranks based on context, and then to translate them, because they’re both in the same military organisation.

My best guess is that Cor’s position as Shogun is a wartime thing, and Gladio is technically in charge outside of that. As for what’s the best way to translate Taichou with that in mind...I don’t know. Marshal is usually the highest rank, or right there at the top, and I don’t know enough about various militaries to be able to figure out the right rank for Gladio.

Around here, it was basically brought about as a pre-vote gimmick by our very conservative chancellor. She does these things a lot to take voting points away from other less conservative parties - so while the end result worked out (even if the chancellor ultimately voted against it), it has a bit of a weird aftertaste.

Oooof yeah, it sucks to know that they still don’t actually care, your entire existance is just a bargaining chip.

Our Prime Minister is reasonably centre when it comes to social issues (at least for a guy from a right-wing party), and he’s publicly stated on several occasions that he supports SSM, but he still bows and scrapes to the fuckers in his party who are further right and who are adamantly against any sort of social change that doesn’t directly benefit them at the expense of everyone else.

My country has only just legalised same sex marriage -legal partnerships were fine but it didn’t have the same benefits and rights as a marriage, especially about adoption rights, so that was one of the primary concerns of people wanting a “proper” marriage instead of just the marriage ‘light’ version that was possible. And that’s not even counting the emotional aspect people connect with the term marriage.

Yeahhhh Australia is currently in the middle of a very ugly public “debate” about it, because the fuckin’ idiot in charge of the country decided that, after failing his attempts at a stupid binding public vote, we should have an even stupider non-binding postal vote (meaning, if the result is ‘yes’ in favour of legalising SSM, they don’t have to change the law at all).

Possessiveness and jealousy are great ... for tuning up the creepiness of a relationship. Honestly, these things always remind me that apparently, a lot of people still think "Every breath you take" is a romantic song, so much that Sting himself was completely flabbergasted at how many people are choosing it as their wedding song.
