A strange code, this; impractical, a mere sketch. Its principles of organization unclear, though its pairings and groupings are interesting. Remarkable that it was printed; it may have been intended as a prospectus for a more elaborate code. These were years of speculative code-making; Macdonald's A Naval, Military and Political Telegraphic Dictionary, Numerically Arranged on a Very Comprehensive Scale appeared but one year later.
