Also it's reaaaaallllly interesting how Ardashir and Perlica seemingly offers diametrically opposing interpretation of the Endmin's life and actions; Perlica cast the Endmin as a hero who strives to advance civilization, while Ardashir talks of the Endmin as... well, as someone he doesn't want to see suffer.
When you take into account that Perlica was a child the Endministrator saved, whilst Ardashir seems to be an ex-traveling companion... possibly Ardashir got the more human view of Endministrator, whereas Perlica had a more hero-worship view of her.
A little communication
Arknights: Endfield - Ardashir x Endministrator
A/N: Forcing my way out of writer's block with arknights yaoi because the quest was really good and im glad ardashir got most of the screen time instead of zhuang
Summary: The Endministrator accepts Ardashir's invitation and meets up with him... now would this be an encounter, a trap or just a proper discussion with the enemy?

This was wrong. There was no excuse or way to look at this situation that wouldn't make it worse. The thought of having to explain it made the Endminstrator's stomach turn, but so did the way Ardashir's lips pressed against his. Each kiss clouded his senses and made any doubt or insecurity look like they were not worth the worry.
He clung to Ardashir's clothes, his fingers clenching weakly around the fabric as he tried to decide if he wanted to pull or push the other man away. The Endministrator felt the scaly, sharp tail coil around his leg, binding it to Ardashir's in what could be either tenderness or imprisonment.
"Focus, please," Ardashir gasped, the tip of his nose brushing gently against the underside of the Endminstrator's mask. "I hate to see you waste our time together with others in mind."

Brooch Depicting Two Birds In Flight. S.A. 2648, Unknown Umbarim master. Gold (18kt), pearl, diamond, sapphire, emerald, and ruby.
This piece was likely commissioned by Tar-Ardamin (then crown prince GimilzagĂąr) as a gift for his wife, the princess (later empress) ZĂŽrzimril. That the âcloudâ structure is composed of 44 cultured pearls from Shayyar in Umbar, the site of several pearl farms of famously high quality owned by the family of the future empress. The relatively naturalistic birds are unusual for the late-high Ărada period, more often known for elaborate and heavily stylized depictions of human and organic forms. For this reason, historians have theorized that the birds are a later addition to the original cloud brooch.
However, the detailed gold-work and geometric gem settings are both typical of several Umbarim schools operating in the mid-26th century.  The style adapts elements of traditional Haradric design to a new level of technical skill made possible by contemporary AdĂ»naic metal-working techniques. The intimacy of the work also suggests a personal gift, as does the subject matter. Tar-Ardamin was himself a noted ornithologist, and the two birds are a popular subject of AdĂ»na romantic imagery dating back to the wedding of Aldarion and Erendis. It is not clear if this piece depicts the âelven-birdsâ, which are usually done in white-gold or silver with golden beaks and feet. Perhaps the prince wished for a less historically fraught symbol to present to his new wife.Â

Meditations on Monarchs and Murderers
for Clara, a young Ar-Adunakhor grapples with the aftermath of the first revolt in Armineleth. An interlude to All The King's Men, but it stands alone. Opinions of King's Men not opinions of author, except about death. I agree with them on that.Â
Tar Ardamin, Ar-AbattĂąrik, Nineteenth Ruler of AnadĂ»nĂȘ, Lord Protector of the Nine Colonies, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera, signed the execution orders with a vague expression of distaste.
âItâs a shame.â
Every heir to the throne had thought his father a stuffy, useless relic of bygone ages, Azulzir reminded himself, his toes tapping anxiously against the marble. Every heir to the throne probably thought longingly of the day heâd be in charge and all these unnecessary obstructions and misplaced priorities could be vanquished with one sweep of that sceptre.
One day heâd have a son or daughter who thought the same of him.
It was a humbling thought â or, rather, the sort of thought which ought to be humbling and which instead inspired a very different array of emotions. His mother said he was congenitally incapable of humility. If so, heâd gotten it from her side.
âIt doesnât bother you,â said the King, putting down his pen.
Azulzir sighed. âThe state in your person executes fifteen hundred people a year, nearly all abroad. Some of them are innocent â not to my knowledge, obviously, but just by statistics. We arenât infallible, the appeals system in the Protectorates is abbreviated â âÂ
âI wasnât aware this was a special concern of yours.â

Malapert - Clever in manners of speech.
"EĂ€rcalo addressed the council again today."Â
"EĂ€rcalo often speaks in council. What of it?"Â
GimilzagĂąr sighs, and puts down his pen. âHe argues with father. And father canât ban him from the meetings, heâs still legally his heir.âÂ
"Still?" ZĂŽrzimril had been curled up in the window seat, half-listening, watching the hurried conversations between various lords in the courtyard below. Now, she stretches, and turns to face her husband. "Do you think that Calmacil means to disinherit him?"Â
He shakes his head. âIt is unprecedented -âÂ
ZĂŽrzimril sighs, and joins GimilzagĂąr at the desk. âWhich wonât stop him, if thatâs what he wants.â She wraps her hands around his shoulders. âDo you think you would like to be king?âÂ
He doesnât seem to notice her. âHe spoke well.âÂ
"Who?"
"EĂ€rcalo."
"Thatâs not exactly news."Â
"Heâs persuasive, always has been."
"He has a gift for poisoning minds." Those words, coming from ZĂŽrzimril, could be a complement as likely as an insult. "Donât tell me that you find his heresy appealing." She begins to knead the knots in his back.Â
"Please, love, donât doubt me so. I only fear - " He pauses, for a long while. It doesnât worry her. She is used to her husbandâs difficulty in ordering his speech. He takes a deep, slow breath before continuing. "I fear that my weakness endangers you. I tried - we must have had the same argument half a hundred times, but the words dried up in my throat. How can I rule an empire, when I canât even speak against him?"Â
spontaneous expanded headcanons for the previous generation of the best aduna royal family:Â
Ardamin - Gimilzagar at this point - has a complicated relationship with his father. Earcalo, his older brother, is charismatic, popular, talented, strong-willed - and very Faithful. He uses the Quenya name intentionally. Gimilzagar is quiet, awkward, likes drawing and staying out of trouble. But he is a King's Man, ideologically speaking, and Calmacil would much rather that he take the throne and continue his legacy. He'll have more competent advisors, after all. And Gimilzagar wants to please him, but really resents that he only matters to his father as long as he can fulfill a role he hates.Â
Earcalo is engaged to CalairĂ«, the oldest daughter of the lord of AndĂșniĂ«. Calmacil's plan was probably to force the AndustaliĂ« to restructure their succesion in accordance with Aldarion's laws, which would force Earcalo to become lord-consort of AndĂșniĂ« with some clever legal maneuvering, leaving the throne empty. Earcalo figure out what's going on and tries to have Gimilzagar disinherited preemptively on grounds of attempted treason, ZĂŽrzimril has Earcalo assassinated, you already know this bit.Â
Calmacil is one of those people who seems very fatherly and warm in person, to everyone except his actual kids. And he's incredibly calculating. Used to be more of a hothead as a young man, grew out of it over multiple military campaigns. The plan comes first, always. He's actually a very good grandfather to Ardamin's kids, he doesn't have the same baggage with them as he does with their father and is just this sweet old guy with the cool sword collection who happens to be king.Â
ZĂŽrzimril outmaneuvers his loyalists and throws his plans out the window as soon as he's dead, but that goes without saying. And Ardamin really hates politics.Â
