None of this would have happened if she had been a man. That’s what Kate Sheffiled, the oldest thought. The manor, the estate, all would have remained in the family. Her sisters would have wed and she would have kept on taking care of the household, like she did ever since her father died eight years ago. But she was “only” a woman and women could not take care of such important matters like accounts, bills etc. One had to be serious and educated to do so, which a woman was not. But her father had taught her like a man would teach his son, like a lord would teach his heir: like someone her father knew he could trust and rely on.

Therefore Anthony Bridgerton had no rights to come and take away their legacy just because he was a man and they were not, just because his birth gave him the right, just because he was told he could. She would show him how and both the viscount and his brother would go back from where they came from within a week or so.
