Anyone familiar with Ransei and its Warlords will be able to tell of a certain elder who travels the lands and dispenses good, if obvious, advice. No one knew quite who he was or where he hailed from. Nor did they know where he disappeared to after the unification wars. The most common speculation is an age related death.

Unknown to all but Nobunaga is the fact the legendary creator of Ransei does indeed exist. In a bid to keep both Arceus and the future people and Pokémon of Ransei safe from a repeated history, Nobunaga denied ever having found such a creature after all seventeen kingdoms were united. His word was taken as truth and belief in the myth gradually died out.

Befuddled by a world that would use the whisper of his existence as a reason for war and conflict, Arceus absorbed back into himself the piece that had been traveling the continent for so long. Since the war drew to a close, he has been visiting the kingdoms and people for himself. Arceus recognizes that he doesn’t have a full grasp of the human condition, and tries his best to understand why humans are the way they are. It’s a learning process.

Arceus runs on power of belief. The more people/Pokémon who believe in/worship/pay respects to him, the stronger he is. As he was the first being around before even the universe was built, he has enough power stored to get him through several collapses of a center of worship or societies. After Nobunaga united Ransei and spread word no such creature of legend existed, Arceus’ power in Ransei all but vanished. (Most of what power remains is thanks to Illusio and a few smaller sects.)

As far as battles go, Arceus’ real strength lies in his plates. No matter which type of attack is thrown at him he can defend and retaliate accordingly. Each of Ransei’s kingdoms is built around a spot that Arceus placed a store of energy from the plates as back-up. (The Cradle being Dragnor’s.) The item plates found are the physical manifestation of this energy.

Arceus isn’t omniscient by choice. He figures knowing past, present, and future would be boring, and would much rather discover the meaning of things and actions on his own. While he could turn it on and off again to learn whatever he wishes, he would remember whatever else he found out. I.e., everything.

When Arceus speaks, it’s always with an echo. Not in the great booming lower your gattdamn voice or having fun in an empty room type of echo, but the one that sounds as if there are multiple voices speaking at once. Other legendary Pokémon are the ones that would come closest to hearing his true voice, only ever hearing one or two sub voices when he speaks. Mortals will hear larger numbers depending on idk what. Some humans (particularly those with bonds to other legendaries) will only hear three or four sub voices. Note though that these varying voices will always make sense, and his words won’t be lost for sheer volume.
