•🔰 The Historic Vallasadya Season And India's Largest Vegetarian Feast Begins at Aranmula Temple.

Aranmula Vallasadya, the annual ritualist feast marking the culmination of the Onam festivities kicked off yesterday (04 August 2022) with a ceremonial start at the centuries-old Aranmula Sree Parthasarathy Temple, situated on the banks of Pampa River, Pathanamthitta, Kerala.

Aranmula Vallasadya 2022 will be held from August 4 to October 9. In the wake of heavy rain in Kerala, this year's Vallasadya ceremonies will be conducted amid elaborate security arrangements.

Braving severe and unpleasant weather conditions, thousands of devotees thronged Aranmula Temple yesterday to attend this ritualistic event. 7 Palliyodams (specially built snake boats) took part in the Vallasadya on the first day. Palliyodams are considered as the divine vessel of Lord Krishna (Parthasarathy).

Aranmula Vallasadya is conducted annually by the devotees of Aranmula Temple as a ritual offering to the deity Lord Parthasarathy by offering a grand feast containing 64-70 sets of vegetarian dishes to the rowers of Palliyodam. Legend has it that whatever dishes the rowers asked for by singing Vanchi Pattu (Boat songs) should be served to them so as to please the Lord.

With around 64 vegetarian dishes served on banana leaves, the historic Aranmula Vallasadya is the world's largest traditional vegetarian feast.
