I'm done with this drawing/ painting of my wonderful friend cum art subject, @mbasughun. I title this "God is a Woman" and here's why: We have abundant literature, folk belief and plain sentiments in exposition of the masculine characteristics of God; it appears that man has inherently placed emphasis on the differences in gender and interpreted those differences to mean inequality and the superiority of the man over the woman. I beg to differ. Men and women are equal but different. The fact of our differences translate to the essence of variety as far as our maker has deemed it fit. God loves variety, you see. However, God also loves justice and equality. We've always interpreted our understanding of the nature of God in light of our understanding of the nature of the masculine gender. We see God as a loving and disciplinarian father who has a son- Jesus. Few have questioned who the boy's mother is. Thing is, God's His mum too. He bears both masculine and feminine characteristics within His being That's why He's all sufficient. He has all there is to be in Himself and He distributes parts of Himself to different people. Those people include male and female whom He created in His own image. This implies that the woman is in His image too. And it also implies that God procreates. He bears seed- His word- as a woman does bear her foetus during pregnancy. He cares for His children in such depth of love and commitment as a woman shows her offspring. He is emotional. He laughs. He cries. He is expressed in the woman, as she is an express image of His perfection. The greatest disservice you can do to God is to hurt a creation that so accurately reflects Him.
