Deadpool and Stingray had been working -- to use the term in its loosest possible definition -- together for some time. The Avengers Unity Squad had been sapping the resources for Deadpool’s Mercs for Money and the team were getting antsy performing at birthday parties and guarding petty objects for pocket change. 

Walter had arrived with some sort of dossier for Wade to look over. He was insistent that his boss read it and accept the job within, the payday was significant and it could give Walter some breathing room at home. Working with the mercenaries was taxing enough but it was even harder having Deadpool as your boss.

“Alright, alright,” Deadpool put down one of many bank statements he was pretending to read and he snatched the dossier from Walter’s hands, “I’ll read it.” He jabbed his fingers in the direction of the other man. “But don’t expect me to like it. The last report someone asked me to read turned out to be an overdue electricity bill, I don’t know how Solo managed to run it up so high but I know it was him. Had to dock his pay for that one.” Even through the mask, Walter would be able to recognize the thinly veiled threat, one that would be enforced if this was to be deemed as wasting Wade’s time.

Concealed eyes scanned the document; a wealthy man’s family had been abducted by private military contractors and, surprise, surprise, they wanted a ransom for their safe return. The wealthy man instead proposed to hire Deadpool... to the tune of $4,000,000.

Wade slammed the dossier on the surface of his desk. He stood to his feet and vaulted over to Walter’s side in one smooth motion. He grabbed Walter on either side of his cheeks and planted the sloppiest kiss on his lips (as sloppy as it could be through the mask anyway).

“Walter, I could @#!& you right now!”

Sitting on the ground, his arms resting on the tops of his knees, he nodded in agreement. End of the day, no one was seriously hurt and everyone lived. It was a rare thing that honestly made him smile to himself.
