Closed aquarium date starter for @aquaaes !
"I used to go to aquariums a lot as a kid."
This place...... it awakens a sense of childish wonder, one that she hasn't truly felt in a long time. The lights are dim, yet the darkness is comforting, inviting even. Ann can't take her eyes off the variously colored fish that seem to dance through a fluid sky, and without even a second thought her hand reaches out and touches the glass (it's cool, almost cold against her finger pads); baby blues wide and awe-filled. What would it be like, to be a fish? To be free of society's standards, expectations, and judgments, to be free of responsibility, where no one was judged for being different in any way, shape or form. It sounded wonderful, honestly.
"Look," Ann breathed, turning to Ren with that enraptured look still stamped on her face. "Aren't they beautiful?" The two had come here on a date, and it seemed to be going swimmingly (no pun intended). "I think it'd be nice to live in the ocean..or, or by the ocean, at least-" and her mind casts itself back to the Hawaii trip- "White sands, clear water, seagulls that try to steal your foodー" she giggled at that, shoulders shaking. "If you had a beach house, you could go with to the beach every day and just. .be out in nature and all." A pause, and then her eyes grew thoughtful.
"It's amazing to think that even with all these fish and critters here, in all the aquariums we can think of around the world, we've still only scratched the surface of all the ocean's secrets. They say that we know more about space than we do about the ocean, Ren! Space!"
"It's kind of like people," Ann mused. "You could know them for years and years but, not really know them..yanno?" Silence, and then she laughed nervously. "Sorry, I'm rambling, I know. C'mon. Let's go see the rest of the exhibits, yeah?" She reached out and took his hand then, marveling at how it fit hers just right.
