Today’s theme in #AprilMakerChallenge is product range. And oh man - I have a lot to say here! I offer not just different products, but also products made in different crafts - knitting and weaving (and some crochet 🧶). So, to not bore you too much, I will show some of the products I offer, but to see all of them, you’re welcome into my shop.😉 ⠀ So, first of all, there are these woven scarves I make. I love making wool scarves, either plain gradient or intricate drafted scarves… All my woven scarves I make either with merino wool, or with merino tencel blend, pure tencel, or pure bamboo yarn. I haven’t weave with cotton so far. But I have not decided how I feel about cotton in weaving yet. 🤷🏻‍♀️ ⠀ Next, of course, I knit shawls. I started with these many years ago and I still love knitting them. ❤️ All of my shawls are made with natural fibers, like merino wool, alpaca, merino\silk or merino\tencel blends, etc. No artifical fibers here - this is crucial for shawls. ⠀ And then… there’s lots of everything else! Knitted pillow cases, baby blankets (both knitted and crochet), hats, cowls, socks… Well, I offer pretty much everything. ⠀ And I also would like to mention that I also sell my knitting patterns. Yes, I knit to order, but I also offer patterns so you could knit some of these yourself. 💁🏻‍♀️This is also a huge part of my work and I really hope to make it major one this year. ___________________ I know that marketers recommend to niche down and choose just one thing to offer. But to be honest - it’s way to boring for me! I love making all of these - shawls are different from socks, different techniques, different yarn, and hats differ from socks, and so on. And when I try to imagine that I need to stop making at least one thing among these - no...no no nonoo. ⠀ Now tell me about yourself a bit. Hey guys! So, today for a #AprilMakerChallenge I have to post about my most favorite thing to make. About the product in my shop that I’d love to make again again… and again. And I have to say it was a tough question. Mostly beacuse I love re-making almost all of my products and they are all fun and interesting, but in a different ways. But! I managed to choose not one… but two 🙊items that I love making the most. What are they? ⠀ Well, the first products is a Freesia shawl #freesia_shawl. Yes, this is my own design, so i might be biased… But I can explain why I looove knitting it so much. First of all, I love that it has lots of garter stitch. And I know, some knitters are not really fond of it, but I love knitting garter stitch because it allows me to also read books (yes, simultaneously😎). Knitting and reading are my 2 most favorite things to do, so this is a big win for me👍🏻! ⠀ And second reason to love this design, is that it’s super quick project and usually takes me about 3 days from start to finish. And even though I love knitting it - I’m also always impatient to see the finished result. So again, a big plus👌🏻. ⠀ And well, I’m not going to talk a lot about how beautiful it is (again, I might be biased), but you can see it yourself, right? 🙄It’s just gorgeous! ⠀ ❗️The pattern for Freesia shawl is always available on my website, or Rav (link in bio). __________________ And for the second product I chose not just a particular one… but a group of products. And i’m talking about my gradient woven scarves. And there’s only one reason why I love making them - I’m still mesmerized when I see how these colors change while I weave the scarf, from one shade to another. Hey guys! I decided to participate in my very first IG challenge and picked #AprilMakerChallenge for it. The idea is to post every single day throughout April with a short story about me or my business. And today I will tell the story behind the name. ________________________________ Way back in 2010, me and my husband have moved to US. My visa didn’t allow me to work at that moment, so all I was doing is cooking, making our home cosy and so on.And since I have plenty of time I did so much different crafty things! I cross stitched (still love it!), I’ve been making vases and boxes out of paper, I baked so many sweets! And of course I knitted - this was my passion for years already. And with a lot of spare time I got interested with laced shawls and decided that I just have to learn how to knit those. So I found the easiest shawl possible (Kiri shawl) and just knitted the shawl from the beginning, using only the pattern I had. But in about 10 minutes I actually got bored - it happened to be way too easy design for me. Later I switched to more intricate designs, tried new shawl forms, etc. Oh, and those are my three very first knitted shawls in the carousel - I still love them the most! Then I started knitting socks, hats, cowls, baby blankets.. Well, almost everything. But! Since I couldn’t work I just kept them all at home, stored for future.. And in a few years, when I got work authorization, I was ready to open my Etsy shop and list so many items! Of course, now when I look back, I realize that I didn’t have that many items.. But at that moment I thought I have a HUGE shop. And well… sales didn’t start pouring right away, as almost everyone know who opened the store on Etsy. There was plenty of work ahead - photos, titles, description, market research etc. And with time, my shop grew and sales became regular. Now I sell on Etsy, Amazon, Ebay, Storenvy… and of course my standalone website - www.kgthreads.com. Oh, and the name for KGThreads comes from my initials ;) This one is pretty easy. _______________________ So, this is the story of my small business.
