Ross shook their head angrily, their blue eyes piercing Julian’s stormy gray eyes. The fugitive’s face was apologetic, full of self loathing and disgust for himself - Ross was getting real tired of it all. The excuses, the supposed journey to heal himself, and then it all falling apart like it always did.

“Ross - listening to you has become really important to me,” Julian started, his eyes pleading,”because it shows me how endless a person's thoughts can be”

“But it also raises the question - do you really know people?” Carefully, the self destructive doctor reached out to touch Ross’s arm; they tensed and pulled away after a few moments. Ilya swallowed and continued. “Can you really understand someone completely and so thoroughly? Out of everyone I know, you know me the best, Ross - but do you know every side to me? Do you know my deepest desires and thoughts? Do you know what I’m like at my ultimate worst? Or do you know how horrible I truly can be?”

Ross huffed. They didn’t want to listen to this any longer. “I’m tired of this, Ilya. I’ll see another time.” 

Turning away, Ross headed to home, thinking of the bottles of absinthe they picked up the other day. The tired apprentice wasn’t sure they could handle this situation, Ilya, or any of the stupid emotions that hinted to affection again. So, Ross decided to push them away.

but realized.... it would make so much more sense for apprentice!ross to be a hippogriff
