APPRENTICE PRACTICE
Nasty case of the sniffles this week, but I still wanted to finish these headshots I made to practice my drawing skills with some fan apprentices, particularly of mutuals or other people I just find neat. There’s more that I love, so I hope to get to practice with them soon.

Meet the OC: Caitriona McCarrick
I’m so glad @arcana-echoes is back. I’m gently wading in with my new OC (of a sort) who I’m putting in everything now. I hope you enjoy meeting this version of her.
Name: Caitriona McCarrick
Age: 38, as of the events of the game
Birthday: June 20
Patron Arcana: Temperance/Page of Swords
Favorite flower: hurricane lilies
Favorite drink: dry hard cider
Favorite food: she-crab soup
Brief bio: Born and raised on the small island of Mannin off the eastern coast of the Great Gate, Caitriona came to Vesuvia at the age of twenty-three to spend a summer helping her great-aunt Margaret prepare the space for her new magic shop. Summer ended, and she simply never left. A gifted herbalist and water witch, Caitriona’s knack for reading the fickle storms and seas made the shop - cheekily named The Hidden Pearl - a popular stop for sailors and merchants coming in and out of port. At night, she often went to the Rowdy Raven to sing, though sometimes, when the moon was at its fullest, she was found down at the docks softly singing an older, wilder song to the wind whipping off the waves, full of magic and longing.
Temperance
Upright: balance, moderation, purpose
Reversed: excess, imbalance, realignment
Tagging in @arcana-echoes even though patron Arcana isn’t a prompt. Count it as a freebie!

Arcana Echoes of the Past: Home
Caitriona hails from Mannin, the largest barrier island in a small chain along the eastern coast of the Great Gate. It's a small, tight-knit community that she's from, where most of the island's trade is in catching the best and freshest seafood to sell on the mainland. There are legends of sirens in the sea just beyond the islands, but that is largely born of the shifting, treacherous shoals that often run the inexperienced sailor aground, along with the locals' tendency to sing their way through their everyday tasks, be it fishing, sailing, or weaving and mending nets. There is a herd of wild horses that live in the remote parts of the island, said to have been first washed ashore from a Firentian shipwreck.
Caitriona's family has long lived on the island, and only in recent years have any of them begun to travel and settle elsewhere. Her parents, Liam and Elin, are the island's schoolteachers; for years it was assumed she would take up the post, until she left for Vesuvia and never came back. She still often wrote them, though, along with her siblings who also left Mannin to seek their fortunes across the sea.

Arcana Echoes of the Past: Magic
Caitriona's magic is grounded in what surrounded her all her life: water and wind. As such it can be fickle, sometimes as calm as the sea at sunrise, but there is always a sense of barely-restrained power beneath the still waters. She does not cause storms or have any say over their ebb and flow; rather, storms are a conduit to bring her power to the fore, with the strongest and most unpredictable being the sustained force of a hurricane.
Her skills at cartomancy were learned from Asra, though she has never had quite their same intuitive connection to tarot. Before the Plague struck, she had been hard at work on painting her own deck. It was lost with her on the Lazaret, or so she thought...

Critical to emphasize that the vibe Caitriona brings to any function is grown up weird girl, as in you know she was the one making weird animal noises in school if you dared interrupt her reading time.
